73' B3 340 Duster pro touring build

Me too... that's why I almost changed my Black with Red accents to the ultra cool Porno Red.My interior lady told me the seats alone would be $1000 to re-do them and since I already paid her $1000 for custom covers that haven't even been sat in yet, I couldn't justify it.
Well ok, but when we hand out the award for the "Bitchinest red interior in the tent", you will just have to sit quietly in the corner.

From what I've been told, that award is not something that will be taken lightly.

Not Denny's customary Sharpie on a cheap paper plate but a vinyl sticker applique affixed to
an upscale and extra thick "Chinette" picnic plate.

A treasure to keep for sure! .

.

You would think after 2 years at the body shop I would have stuff ready to go for when it came home but....had to order some drip rail seals and floor plugs so I thought that I would bolt on some HDK parts after I sprayed Raptor Bed liner under the inner fenders and rear tubs and added some Dynamat to the floor and roof. I also swapped out my thermostat housing for a Chevy type style so it will clear my EFI fuel cross over line unlike the straight up Mopar style.

The assembly process begins. Seeing that makes me feel good all over.
I'll bet it's great working with all of that fresh hardware. This is the real reward.

That gloss HDK hardware looks fantastic over the background texture of the Raptor.

I don't think even Denny thought of putting sound guard inside of the roof panel
(maybe I'm wrong) but that is a good move. I remember one time at work we got
a new Impala in that had been misbuilt with out the roof insulation and you should
have heard it when it rained! We fixed it, of course.

The roof was done specifically for heat reflective purposes especially with a Black car....but the added sound absorption will be a nice bonus. And since everything is Black I need as many finishes and contrasts as possible to define some detail

I missed the roof but if the headliner ever comes out....it will get done..... just for giggles

Progress update....Dropped off lots of aluminum parts to be Anodized(Black), installed my drip rail foam seals and drip rails then installed the quarter glass, all the trim was painted Matte Black prior to installation, Mocked up the Red top Optima's in the trunk to get a feel for how much room there gonna take up and finally mounted my Fuel filter, now I can start making fuel lines, haven't decided if I'm going with hard line or steel braided under the car. UPS arrived and dropped off the gauges for the New console that the Autometer Custom shop made to match my Dash gauges. Enjoy.

The way it's going together now with so much new and shiney stuff that has
been painstakingly scienced out and pre-fitted over the last couple of years, If
I were you, I don't think that I could sleep at night.

It's early on but have we allowed ourselves a little test drive fantasy yet?

Everything looks so amazing! I really need to get off my butt and straighten my trim and polish it out. So it's ready for when I get the car back. Where did you get the foam seal for the drip rail?

For the fuel line I purchased a really nice PTFE (Teflon) line from an online vendor. Bonus is it's black braided with black fittings. PM me and I'll shoot you the link. It's much safer to run PTFE as it won't permiate the fumes.

A trying but fun part of the build...... remembering how I painstakingly engineered all the parts to work and fit.

After four plus years of the first start up....I'm still tweeking my Duster.....and that is almost my favorite part.

HotRodding 101.....you are never done...done

BTW...looks good. Adding color to color helps that pop effect

I got the seals form Detroit Muscle Technologies LLC.

My lines will definitely be Black, regardless of Hard line or Braided.

It's tough finding all the screws, brackets and then remembering which way they go on and where they go.

Maybe HemiMark and I can get a volume discount....might as well see if Mike (Badlilred79) want in on it too.....there's gonna be a lot of Black cars under the tent next year.

Mike's golf cart needs a lot of detail work. The undercarriage is a mess.

Ross - the car looks great. I'm certain this is a huge turning point in this build for you.

Thanks Todd, It was nice to get something back...better late than never, the next major turning points will be getting the Doors and fenders back (Next weekend) and the driveline install.

but you are very well organized..... you went to B.F. Egypt, but your car stayed in the same zip code.

my dis-assembled build was boxed up and moved to 4 different locations .....not counting the body shop stay......wow, what a cluster f*ck!

Okay just to clarify...I ended up in Kuwait for over half my time because some ISIS/ISIL or IS decided to stir up trouble, at a place called "the Rock", not this B.F Egypt place you talk about but I get your point. I spent 45 minutes going through all the boxes of stuff looking for the Metric seat bolts and after giving up and planning on going to the hardware store tomorrow found them in the only box actually in the car.

Here's the weekend update: rebuilt the Installed the wiper pivots and got the hidden wiper motor mounted, mounted the line lock, adjustable proportioning valve and the brake line bulkhead fittings, I installed the billet trunk supports, I haven't decided to paint or Anodize them. Also mounted the heater/defroster (sorry, no A/C). I also haven't decided what finish to put on the brake pedal I made a few years ago, I probably will take it to the Anodizing place and just have a clear put on it so it matches the gas pedal.

I also refinished the taillight housings, I first sprayed them with Eastwood chrome reflective galvanized coating but wasn't happy with the reflective finish, I want as much light to shine from the taillights as possible and have read where guys have added aluminum foil to increase light reflection, so I went to Advanced Auto and picked up some chrome tape and added it to the inside of the housing, you can see the difference in the first and third photo..half is done with the Chrome tape and the other side/reverse light area is just the Eastwood paint.
