I'm with you!

I painted my Manx with RustOleum Flat Black. It's perfect for an off-road car because I can blend the paint if needed and it's pretty forgiving. I have used meguiars quikwax with good results. I would not think you want to paint your car with that low grade paint but I was surprised of the ease and out come. I did not put a clear on it nor will I, because it's a waist. Flats are strange though because they show way more junk then any standard gloss finish. I always think house paint to be flat, but the reality is the wall of house will never see as much dirt as outside ( I assume). Any light scuff is noticeable. Any dirt shows right away. All the hot rods and cars out their with flat paint are making the owners crazy with keeping it clean. I would have second thoughts about spraying a car again with flat. I do think it's looks cool.

I was going to paint my car flat black but after looking at what the primer look would be like I had to decide on this color

I do like the satin or flat look but cannot justify the price for the look.

I like the Blue color it will look much better than Flat Black...to each his own, but flat grey or flat Black just looks like a project car not complete yet. And yea, if I'm spending all that $$$$ on a paint job it better be a head turner.

My tastes can run a little out of the box.
Example... speaking of boxes, I like a lot of wagons. :colors:

i feel your pain. im building a pro-beater 64 elcamino for my new daily. painted satin OD green out of a rattle can.

so yeah, i fully understand outside of the box. granted were mopar guys. according to all non mopar guys, were already outside of the box. so if were outside of the mopar guys box, what does that make us?

I wouldn't say that a flat paint job doesn't make you a Mopar guy, but if the paint job has a theme like a bomber or military theme then it goes together and you what the builder is trying to achieve.

I was going to go with the Satin Blue off of the 2005 Kawasaki ZX6r for the Scamp for a while. I love a satin paint job, I will however be surprising everyone with my final paint choice. Lets just say I couldn't decide between the grey or the blue so I may have found a middle ground.

I'm sure it will have lots of WOW factor.....Satin or Matte finish is a totally different animal than Flat paint. I can't say that I won't have some Matte paint on my Duster when it's all said and done.

Just dropped in to say Howdy Ross. Was hoping to see some up dates on your car. Great progress on the Swinger.:coffee2:

Thanks,
I was suppose to go see the Duster yesterday (Sunday) but something came up, so now I'm going tomorrow (Tuesday) after work. Tom (The Painter) told me to make sure and bring my camera !!!! I'm trying not to get my hope's up to high, but I'm really looking forward to going and seeing what it looks like, It's not in blocking primer yet, so it shouldn't be jaw dropping.... but we will see. I'll post pics regardless of the progress, since this is a Duster thread not a Dart thread. Final color is still in the air, but Denny has me thinking outside the box, so it might be really unique as long as Tom (the painter) can pull it off. He's going to do some test samples to find out. My Alsa Soft Feel clear showed up so as soon as the weather breaks I will be painting that.

Well heres what I saw when I went to see the Duster tonight ....I was told "now that the temp should be getting warmer the progress will pick up". I'm sure it will, we discussed some paint details also, it should really be a one off car including paint if all goes as planned. Sorry this is all I got for now.

Very nice. The color is washed out in these photos. Have you posted better ones anywhere?

the color is washed out because it is a flat color. the car is jon clarks flat basterd featured in PHR last year. i raced it at the PHR musclecar of the year last year and i have had it ever since in my shop working out build bugs. bad *** car! this is mine. crappy cell phone pic.

That Chrysler 300 color on 06 SRT8s, Magnesium, is sinister as hell.

That Viper just planted an idea for a rocker mod for exhaust.
