73 dart sport project

WOW! Just read the entire thread so far. Excellent work, man! Keep it up! I have yet to start on my Dart, but reading these and seeing the amazing accomplishments keeps me going... Looking forward to reading the next update.

hmm still cant get oil pan to seal. Three different brands of seals two different kinds of sealant new windage tray. Guess I will just drive and keep eye on oil until I can save for another new pan. Oh well going to rock it out for this year going to add some Lucas to try to help slow leak. I got trans all topped off and took her for spin around the block today. Shes going to be pretty mean for sure. I will try to get a video once I get her cleaned up

Got her out and did a quick wash job on her. Still needs to go to body shop for final body panel alignment and to be wet sanded. Going to body shop Monday to get that wrapped up. Went for a spin everything went smooth except the oil leak.

ordered a new pan and new rear seals. I am going through anything and everything on back of motor that could possibly leak

Congrats on getting your car up and running, also looks great. You should post in the BB forum to see what others have done to make sure your rear main seal is sealed up once and for all before driving it too much.I hate the small leaks.

arg the body shop is going to have to repaint the whole car! :(
After month or so of getting car from shop these little bumps popped up everywhere I figured they would wet sand out. nope and they have no idea what caused it or what it is. Car was walnut blasted so shouldn't be a rust issue. Motor is making noise to so thats coming out and going to engine shop. need to replace rear main anyway might as well do a good check on clearances. Starting to think this car is cursed with all the problems ive ran into

Most likely solvent pop. Spraying the clear on before the base coat is done flashing off. I just D/A sand the clear with 420 then reclear. Hope they are not charging you. Sorry for the pan leaking. Have you restraightened the pan holes to make sure they are pushed outward and not towards the block? Good Luck!

They redid the beak of car to try to pin point what happened. Going to pick it up today and go to a car show tomorrow. I will probably pull motor sunday or monday to go to shop maybe car will go to paint to so I can knock it out all at once. I went all around the pan with a flat body hammer and ball peen hammer to the holes. Only leaks in the back of pan kinda why I am thinking rear main is leaking.

Here we go the few miles I drove before motor ate it self because someone didn't put it together right there was a clunk in front end so I got all new ball joints and bushings. One lower control arm bushing was gone and the other had maybe half the rubber still inside. Don't remember name of part but little bar that goes from control arm to front of car one bushings was gone. Ball joints looks newer but will replace anyway

woo sure doesnt go back together easy as it came apart. Should have it all back together tomorrow back started to hurt from all the sitting on the ground. Motor is done hopefully get someone to pick that up for me and back in her home shes goes.

LOL! Yes they sure do seem to come apart faster than they go together. And sitting on the ground only makes it seem longer. I hope someday to have a hoist.

Got suspension wrapped up few days ago and also picked up motor few days ago to. Went with a bigger stall and also a bigger cam in the motor. Got motor in mounts and bolted to trans tonight. Back at it tomorrow to get everything else bolted on hopefully my torque converter bolts come tomorrow. New converter takes bigger bolts then my other one. Almost time to drive it :D

Got motor broke in. The stall had the bigger pattern in it so it was hitting the little shield. Little cutting and body hammering and it worked out :D Shes all washed just need to get alignment before I go off driving anywhere

Forgot to post been cruising around in dart for few months now. Had to tune carb down guy had way to big of jets and power valve in it. Went to a car show with it to. Nice little show and "big brother" showed up. Its the guy that helped me get it running. Same year car, both 440's and came from same state. His is just a stroker and a lot more hp.

Well after three tries the body shop got it where I can at least put motor in the car and get it running. Still has to go back one more times. Starting to get old. So I got everything bolted back up still working on firing it up. Dont mind mess either I haven't cleaned anything up yet.

Sorry to hear about your problems.
Awesome car and awesome build, what a lot of patience and extra work you had to endure.
That would make the pope say the f word.
With persistence it will come around..........

It's been a nightmare for sure and it is still fighting me. Been trying all week to get it started... well more like waiting for help

Went to a ton of shows this summer. Took runner up at one. Seen some pretty sweet cars but time for upgrades and parts are in to help drivability. Other plan is hopefully rims
