74 power wagon dream truck...

Nice.

I gotta pull my fuel tank, remove the sending unit and drill the hole for a drop in pump assembly from Aeromotive. Then run 1/2” feed and return lines. Waiting on my new credit card. LOL
I was going to pull out my original fuel lines this weekend and give them an inspection. I don't know if they've been replaced or somehow just remained in good condition. But at a glance they didn't look too bad, as a matter of fact they look pretty good just dirty.. (like everything..)
There's just a few things that I'm not going to buy new. Mostly budget Wise it's hard to buy every last little thing brand new but I guess over the coming years I could just replace with brand new stuff if I have to spend the money..
The steering box and the power steering pump are fine. Just need cleaning up and painting. The power brake booster just need some wire Wheeling cleaning and painting as well. The fuel lines again maybe just some wire Wheeling cleaning up and I'll hook my electric fuel pump to it and pump fuel through it make sure there's no leaks or rust or anything coming through... My factory steering column has some flaws in the collar that I'll have to replace but I'll put the rest of it in there and just buy some good replacement Factory pieces...

Fuel lines can look reasonable on the outside, but be corroded to kingdom come on the inside. When you inspect them, be sure to evaluate the insides as well.

Ya on my son's power wagon they were rusted from the inside out...
I will pay very close attention.....

I recommend replacing the output shaft seal on the steering box.
When mine went bad on the 73 W200 it leaked like a sieve. fluid went everywhere

So I hooked this contraption up to get the big nut off the pitman arm and as I'm taking a picture the massive ratchet drops and hits me in the ankle! So I start dancing around the garage and all I can think is my dad saying it'll stop hurting when the pain goes away.. thanks Dad...

Oh absolutely love to tell you how these were the only struggles of the day...
But I don't lie to make friends, so it was two steps forward one step back...

Got the call...
Was able to grab the hood, a fender, door hinges, and the valance...
Get the rest tomorrow...
I'm over the moon...

The green was the color that the last person painted it, this is a true to the year Spinnaker White...

Before I got that call I was making forward progress getting the steering box and the steering box bracket on and the steering arm also on.
I got the twin stick shifters mocked up as well..

Took full advantage of the only good day it looks like we're going to have in a while. And instead of shoving this in the last six by six spot that I have left in my garage to swing a hammer I went ahead and got with my wife my number one assistant mechanic) and put the cab on. Still need to tighten it up and get the bushings 100% correct but it's on there...

So I've got a few days to work on it coming up and tomorrow I'm going to use as a cleanup the garage and assessment day. Get a punch list started for the things I can do without spending money. Also just get the cab from my secured down on its mounts.. there's a vast amount of small jobs I can tackle...
I just need to get them all out on paper. So I can start crossing them off the list..

Man, I gotta do the same things to get **** done sometimes. It's a good way to keep track of things.

Great progress! Looks like new stuff. I guess that's the point, right? lol
