74 power wagon dream truck...

I did measure the dipstick itself and it's 29 inches from the point where it would stop at the top of the tube to its end...

Dipstick measurements!

Ys, it is for a car, I was thinking they were the same as long as no AC.

Yes my truck pan has a pocket that grabs the dipstick and takes it to the rear sump that's why it's 29 in Long...
Do you have a big block in your truck build?..

Of course the truck pan would take a different dipstick. I guess never even thought about it!

I had all the parts to go big block in the truck we are building but we chose to go with a Magnum 360 instead.

It looks like we both need Mopar dude to get home from work LOL...
I’ll measure mine and get back to you today after I get home
HELP!!...:D...

I KNOW!! I’m sorry guys, tonight I swear I’ll get that measurement!!

but I do remember using a regular car dipstick TUBE. It was the length of the truck dipstick that changed, longer for the rear sump truck oil pan.

@j par my dip stick tube is 10-5/8 long. (The top of the flange at the bottom, to the top of the tube)

the dipstick itself is 29” long from the end to the stop at the top of the tube. My measure reads 28-1/2 but it’s the same as yours, measured from the bottom the the stop. (Not the stop at the tube)

this here is what I used, but I didn’t pay this insane price.

:thankyou:
That looks like the info we've been looking for.. I have this cheap aftermarket dipstick and tube..
It looks like I'll cut a half inch or so off the tube and pitch the dipstick in the garbage... Then I can finally put on my fuel pump and mock up the alternator...

So here's where I'm at now I have quite a few things ready to put on and quite a few things ordered via black friday...
I got the fuel lines cleaned up painted and sorted as well as the transmission lines repaired and cleaned and painted..
I hope to install most of that today..
I hope to start installing the sound deadener tomorrow or the next phase as well as finished disassembly of the rest of the dash and get it cleaned treated and painted. I do have what I believe is a better dash from a 72 that I parted out that I'll probably use.. it doesn't have all the hillbilly switch holes drilled into it...
I ordered the carpet kit it should be coming next week.
I ordered the instrument cluster from intellitronics as they have a 25% sale through Cyber Monday...
I just ordered the aftermarket AC and heating from cold master and they gave me 10% off of an already extremely reasonably priced product...
Right now waiting to see if Speedmaster has their Black Friday sale to pull the trigger on the wiring harness distributor starter and some spark plug wires....

Got a chunk of the sound deadener done and I still didn't even use half of what I have. I still got to do the firewall inside, inside the doors, and parts of the roof...
With everything I have left I'll probably just double up big patches here and there...

These three rollers for 16 bucks from Amazon we're perfect for this application. The sound deadener had the raised little bubbles that you mash down with these serrated rollers that let you know that you have it done correctly. These three worked absolutely perfect..

Also I put it up in areas you can't see on both sides the inner and outer walls around the club cab window..

If you are still freaking out, this weekend I can take measurements on the tube and dipstick on my dads bought new 78 360 power wagon.

Well freaking out might be a little strong LOL.. the tube that I had was about a half inch longer than Mopar dudes.. I just slammed at home and figured it would read about a half court low and it was full.. I'll end up just putting a scratch in it probably.. thank you for that though I've already just called it a day...

So I wanted a Holley street demon 750 for this build.. supposed on sale for $403... Not in the budget...
I called Holley and put myself on a wait list for a factory refurbished last week..
Got the email today one was in stock and snapped it up right away... $239 to the door...
Just checked, no longer in stock...

Damn they are getting re-furbed prices for what they sold new for a year ago.

Now I have plenty of parts for the puzzle..
I've been trying to address the steering column.. the upper portion is busted in a couple places..
PXL_20211129_212528832.jpg

Someone hacked in a later model ignition..
PXL_20211129_220823054.jpg

And as you could kinda see in the first picture the emergency flasher is busted..
PXL_20211129_220959917.jpg

And as my luck would have it the one with the busted emergency flasher has a good turn signal clicker and the one with the good emergency flasher doesn't....
Order a new one...

My good luck is I have a two wheel drive collum in okay shape.. the bottom is different but tops are the same..
Sooooo, take both apart... Make a good one ..

Clean, sand, clean and primer...
PXL_20211203_023851616.jpg

While I get some black paint on the collum I'm gonna start deciphering the wiring.,.
Also figure how the heat and AC is going to mount..
And make a presentable gauge holder...
PXL_20211203_023921167.jpg

I thought the heater looked way to small but on second thought the heater core is the same size as any other I've seen..
It's the factory ones come in a bigger box..

6 hours of old harness wire hacking..
An hour of head scratching over the new harness...
This Speedmaster 20 circuit wiring harness seems well labeled.. since the factory fuse box is in the dash under the glove box door I'm going to gut part of the stock fuse box and mount the new one in it... I'm going to try and use the factory flasher holders...
