74 power wagon dream truck...

-
I got the horns and the windshield washer connected and tested and all the wires loomed up everything shrink wrapped and blah blah blah all the stuff that I do. I can officially put away my electrical tools as everything is 100%. Okay I lied I need to hook speakers up but the lines are ran... Wait a minute I need to plug in an antenna too... Rats!!!...
I did the upper and lower radiator hose and the vacuum lines for the PCV and the power brakes. Only thing left in the head now is just putting some kind of separator holders for the AC and heater water lines....
I'll probably start tomorrow by cleaning a couple of my work benches up and getting the stuff out to start filling the doors and start specifically getting everything cleaned up and ready for the passenger door. I need to put the seals whiskers and fill it up with the windows regulators and so forth...

2 days ago was the one year anniversary of taking that picture in post number one. When I went up to look at it...
About the time you wrapped up the nitrous and Demon setup on the Duster.
12 months removing every bolt, cleaning, and rebuilding every part and putting it all back together is outstanding dedication.
It had to take most of your time off work. Do you ever sleep ?

After I turn 50 I sure don't sleep like I used to that's for sure... But yes I do spend a good 80% of my not at work time working on the truck.. actually looking forward to when it's done been trying to convince myself I'm not going to do the same thing to the Duster...
The good part about the dusters most things are already paid for and done just needs to be all retaken apart rewired and painted... I'm going to try and use every fiber in me to wait till you're after next to do it... Like some time to enjoy my hobbies...

Drove an hour plus each way to aumsville today to JB Fabrications to get the final link of my twin sticks, 96 inch long cables... Got them installed and got my countertops cleaned...

Oops.. forgot pictures..

Of course it was an epic battle like everything... Should have been a 15/16 and 7/16 wrench.. NOT IN MY WORLD!...:BangHead::rolleyes:...

Post pics of what those look like installed please. Transfer case to shifter bracket. Etc
I'll be out in the garage in the next hour or so. It's pretty simple the bracket bolts underneath the dog house and it's normal position you just have to drill for new holes. I had to use some 1-in spacers at the back of it underneath to angle it more downward so it would miss the back of the tunnel. Come to find out later when I talk to the guy John at JB Fabrications that they have a 30° angle down one..:BangHead:...
Then at the transfer case at the back of the transfer case there's a bracket that you buy that bolts onto the back side of it and it sticks up and holds the cables going to the front side. So instead of shifting from the front and pulling and pushing them from the front like your factory one would do these pull and push from behind so there's these little wing brackets that connect to the shifter arms themselves...
Now those shifter arms or rods that go inside the case need to be modified or you can buy theirs that are already modified and that's what I did. But not only they give instructions for it but there's tons of videos for notching the rods and it prevents from going one lever into high and one lever into low... They can all work individually and high and low and go and high and low together but one can't go into high and one can't go into low.
The other problem I ran into with my transfer case is that the way the cross member kind of curls around and down in the way of that shift lever from front to back. I ended up having to drop the passenger side and furred out with a half inch of washers and longer bolts so the cables would go underneath the cross member on top of the transfer case. And yet another problem was that bracket that bolts under the back was right there at where the crossmember curls down and I had to fur that out about a half inch with longer bolts and spacers...
All of that could have been avoided if I would have notched the cross member before I had it powder coated:BangHead:...
But once it was powder coated I certainly didn't want to start cutting it up...
Pictures to come...

I've never used the ball and cup headers before.. I'm hoping they seal..
I’ve had this set up before. I’d use a lock washer on each end to prevent vibration from loosening it up. Over all, it’s better than replacing a gasket on a tight set up.

Alright thanks. Rubber mat is out then. No carpet for me. Maybe rhino line or linex, or some sort of truck bed liner. Not sure if I should do carpet…
Avoid bed-liner like the plague, it will always be dirty.
I had the interior of my 48 Willys wet sanded down with 400 grit, getting ready to spray body color on the floor.
My wife said "the first time the granddaughters ride in that they are going to scratch the paint, and you will throw a fit" I thought about, yes she is probably right, so I sanded it down with 80 grit, bought an under-coating gun and sprayed bed-liner.
I hate that bed liner crap, it always looks dirty, it is impossible to clean.
That is the last time I listen to the wife.

I just did a meet and greet yesterday with a potential new customer who had a 72 Chevy K5 and that thing was plastered with undercoating all over the interior up to inside of the inner doors.. it looks like a nightmare and it was likely covering a multitude of sins...

Lookin good man. That transfer case control stuff is really nice.

It's 99% look cool and conversation piece... And I'd be surprised if 1% of the time I actually use more than rear wheel two wheel drive... LOL..
You probably won't ever "have to" because they are pretty formidable in 4x2 form.

Bring it over here, we can test the 4WD on buffalo hump, a washout road to 8,000 ft.

Did you make this transfer case support bracket or is that factory? I need one of those.

I think someone before me made it it mostly consists of welding a tab on that rear counter shaft cover. I think the original one supposed to be some kind of rod that goes in the hole at the bottom that goes all the way through..
