SCORE!!!...
That will be the easiest header install you have ever done, if you do this.
Throw the instructions away, remove the starter, and oil filter.
Put the drivers header up from the bottom, and drop the passenger header down from the top.
You can do all this with the engine bolted down.
Headers on a W-series truck is super simple, if you are not watching, they will bolt themselves on, it is really that easy.

Or, do like I did and put the headers on before the cab goes back on! Now that's an easy header install!

Now I can continue to disassemble...
Tomorrow hopefully I can get the bed off and up on it's perch that I made..

Planning to pick away at the cab today. Pretty much everything that isn't the windows or doors...
I should have some time early next week to try and get the cab lifted off...

Well I got a little further than I thought today.. (thanks again to my wife..)

...

Finished picking the frame clean and loading it on my trailer...
The only thing I couldn't get out was the bushings for the front leaf springs...
I'm thinking I may have to resort to grinding the rivets off and pressing them out on my press..

You will absolutely have to drill those rivets. I think a whole new assembly is available at rock auto. An even better way to go would be with Jungle Jim’s Fabrications. He makes a real nice mount/ bushing setup.

Next I got to pop off these tires and leaf springs to condense the room they take in the garage and pick up the chaotic mess of tools...

$$$$...:BangHead:.... LOL...
I assume the rear shackles as well? At least those I think I can put on my press....
I bought bushings for the frame from Summit but they don't look correct...

I ground a bunch of those rivets last fall laying under The Yeller Dodge. I used some really aggressive carbides I dug out of the dumpster at work. I got absolutely covered with grindings. At least you have a bare frame!

Did I mention that I HATE frame rivets?

Since I can take those off and put those in my press I probably will try pressing them out first before buying new ones...
I'll probably do the same for the front. I'll just grind out the rivets and put them in my press... I've got to cut down on these hundreds and hundreds...

yes the frames up on my trailer and that part is actually sticking off the back of the trailer so it will be a walk up to it situation. I'll probably start with my cut off wheel and see if I can't take a slice sideways at it...

Didn't have a big enough socket to get the d60 pinion off and ran out of steam and knowledge to get the spindle carriers off the d44...

What size is it? I have sockets going up to about 2.5" as well as combination wrenches that are about the same.
I appreciate that! I'm now in a bit of a tailspend cuz I just got a call from a guy that might have new axles lift kit the whole nine yards for probably cheaper than I can get all this stuff done for...
Besides that I'm sure going up to the parts store and buying one socket is going to be less expensive than gas out to your house and I would have the tool which is fine with me.
my biggest is inch and a quarter and it almost seems to fit I think it's probably inch and 3/8. But again I just would assume go up and buy it and have it.
Your generosity is only exceeded by your kindness.

After all that work yesterday getting those axles apart I sit down in my chair exhausted after a shower and immediately get a call from a guy who may have both Axel's completely rebuilt at a very reasonable price. LOL. I wanted to strip these down to have them powder coated along with the frame but if someone can hand me to Axel's completely built with receipts for the same price or less I'm jumping on it...
Sharing this build on this thread is about the last straw for this forum for me... I've had just about enough of 80% of the people that frequent this forum and no doubt they've had enough of me as well...
I'm not trying to say I'm any better... I'll try and post on this thread but the rest of it I'm just about done with... And if this becomes uninteresting I'll probably give this up as well... Thank you for all the inspiration and support from the guys that do...

Don't despair. Many like me love the work you're doing, but don't feel we have anything worthwhile to add, so we lurk quietly. Besides, you should know: for every discouraging verbalized remark, there have been 100 positive thoughts you never heard.
