A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
What is the scope of planned modifications?

After I get this thing "super tuned" this summer and take it to a few shows a HemiDenny front suspension is in the works..... I also want to remove the nitrous system and clean up the engine compartment. I want to get the times into the 10's. I think its doable for sure. It turned 11.09 with my stupid *** behind the wheel and all i did was mash the gas when the light turned green. That Hilborn fuel injection is really bad ***....

Thanks guys. RFT is definitely busting balls. He is the original ball buster.

I think the car should get a 440, but RFT wants to do a late Hemi.

Regardless, it is another nice car saved and getting back on the road.

Definitely just busting balls!!!!! But I do appreciate you acknowling my 4 posts before flying of the handle. I usually dont have that much restraint!!!:tongue7:

Better read this. You can use a 650 but this shows that you will be
45 hp down compared to the 850; almost as much as on a 750.

That's why I surmised that a 750 would be the conservative choice.

Keep in mind that the test engine didn't even have the Edelbrock heads.
Also, 1970 383 Roadrunners came stock with a 700 cfm Holley.

I stand by my initial recommendation, Just needs tuned to the engine.

I'm awaiting comments - 45 hp is a lot.

you have a point there

wear a hat and nobody will notice :blob:

soon we can add the Barracuda.

This would make a great garage poster and yes, that latest 383 Duster is such a cool sleeper. Very sweet indeed. You sure do have a knack for putting these cars together. Thanks for all the updates, info and photos.:prayer:

Thanks....what I see when I look at those pics is...

my Buddy Dan fishtailing his blue RoadRunner
Dandy Dick handing me his chewed cigar
HemiMark with a giant smile
Jim (HemiDemon) with a grin (and holding a bellybuster)
Bro John and Weeb in the garage BS'n at assembly time

great memories and a lot of fun!

(how did I do on the humble meter?)

John won....and he is probably right.... this 383 Duster gets the 750 cfm carb
Maybe I can get him to post some finished pics of the Duster later today.

I feel like I should buy him lunch far all the ball busting I sent his way!

Maybe I should change the topic real quick.... Brother John, can I run
325/50R 15's on an 8" wide rim?

All of the others should be quaking in their boots!

After adjusting the chassis attitude we got down to tuning. Man, does
this thing bark! The (approx) 388 cu in with the Edelbrock heads, Comp
Cam, TTi headers and full 2.5" exhaust through 2 chamber Flowmasters
makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Of course, the cam is going to be a little more radical with smaller cu in.

Denny says everybody likes pictures, so take a lot. Not even any Armor
All on the tires yet.

Don't mind all of the enclosed trailers....this is at Weeb's "G2" complex.

What's the car under the cover inside of "G2"?

Is that a Corvette under a cover at, I'm guessing, "G1"?

a 383 Duster would have been a fun toy in 1970......gonna be a lot of fun today, 43 years later

Look at what Brother Mark V sent me today...............
