A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

Better read this. You can use a 650 but this shows that you will be
45 hp down compared to the 850; almost as much as on a 750.

That's why I surmised that a 750 would be the conservative choice.

Keep in mind that the test engine didn't even have the Edelbrock heads.
Also, 1970 383 Roadrunners came stock with a 700 cfm Holley.

I stand by my initial recommendation, Just needs tuned to the engine.

I'm awaiting comments - 45 hp is a lot.

you make an excellent point but his car is not on a Dyno! It's a driver and a very nice one at that!
Maybe your right............ you read to much! LOL FYI you can go up in jets in the 650 if needed.

our #'s are flawed...

what cam is in that 383?...500 lift, aint no stocker...and look at the intake and 1" carb spacer...does it look like a coffee getter set-up?...no, it is a mild race motor with 10 plus to 1 compression.

like comparing apples to oranges

if he wants a more power....bigger cam, then bigger carb, and maybe 3:91's.....of course, then you loose drive-ability, ...... you know, the reason he built it.

500 lift compared to 474 or 484? Hardly any difference at all.

Just read a dyno test in the new Mopar Muscle (got today)
where a 440 with 952 heads picked up 47 hp from changing
to the Edelbrock heads alone and he was only using the 474
cam.

He had TTi headers with a full TTi exhaust and an 850 Holley
on an Edelbock Performer RPM manifold. No other tricks at all.

I'm sure the 650 carb will work swell and I don't mind leaving
a couple of horsepower on the table.....just not almost 50.

so how many Dusters/Demons have you guys built now? the green of Dennys, orange of Marks -sold, Jims Demon, Dennys silver, Dans 383 . . . what am I missing?

Don't forget the first one....Dan and I built our 383 /4-speed/Dana 60 with the Missile scheme ( pictured below) in 1974

And there is Brother Weeb's 440 / auto... that introduced me to the Mopar Nats in the early 90's. I had no idea there were so many 60's and 70's Mopars out there.

Looks like Duster Madness to me!! Aint it GREAT
Sure am glad my wife wrote the check for mine!!
What a 60th Birthday present!! And then we got to "Jazz it up"
as she puts it!!

I didn't include the Laube & Hausch car because it's a racecar(love palindromes), but THAT'S GREAT - 7 cars. I always thought it had a hemi, and that's why you made so many more.... 4 hemis, a 440 and 2 383s.

Putting a small block in a 67 Belvedere??? ....someone needs slapped

The small block was already in the car, simply trying to get it back on the road after someone left it sit for 30 years..

no worries RTF614....we just like to bust Todds balls, it's what we do....kinda as a sign of affection ...we like him because he is a really knowledgeable muscle car guy and fun to be around. Todd is welcome on my thread anytime (mostly because he includes pics of half-naked women)

a Mopar is a Mopar to us....all good... even tho we are a little bias to the big blocks.

hope to see your ride sometime, from what I see....it is top notch.

Mopar to ya,
Denny

Agree????? you were all for it, to get it running again PAL!!!!!!!

Maybe you should stick to talking about your own Mopar project on the forum???????:violent1:

It only took 4 post for you to fly off the handle! LOL

Tod, you and your hot rod style and A Body are always welcome!

I'm hoping RFT is just busting your balls.........

you bet....a few of us have pooled our cash and rented a pole tent in the club area that is located right next to the front of the staging lanes/area.....we have room for a few more FABO members (only $40...best reserved parking you will ever get)

Great. I will stop in and say hey!

Thanks guys. RFT is definitely busting balls. He is the original ball buster.

I think the car should get a 440, but RFT wants to do a late Hemi.

Regardless, it is another nice car saved and getting back on the road.
