A500 42RH Crossmember template?

Anybody want to see how I did a clean kickdown linkage/throttle cable setup, and the remote mount transmission cooler setup? I will post pix and factory and aftermarket parts I used

I used 3/8" preformed transmission lines from a 1999 ram van 3500 model, I cut the ends at the front and used a 37° flare and AN-6 B nuts. I made flexible steel braded nylon coated hoses to transfer to the frame. A Derale transmission cooler thermostat valve on a home made custom bracket. A Derale transmission cooler on homemade brackets. The 3/8" hard lines have 37° AN flares and B nuts. All fittings are Russell Enduroshine fittings.

The kickdown cable is a 1995 dodge dakota V8 cable. This is attached to a homemade angle bracket on the back of the carburetor. One end of the bracket uses a part of the Dakotas throttle body kickdown mount, and part of an old mopar throttle cable mount welded on. The stud to attach the dodge Dakota kickdown cable to the carb linkage is an Edelbrock GM TH350 bolt on kickdown cable stud. Nice thing about this is with different manifold heights your linkage is unaffected

At the trans end I used a combination of kickdown lever, and return springs, and a cable attach mount. From ram van and dakota. I cant remember which pieces from which, but they fit well and have proper geometry. Wiring this all up will be the easiest part. I think the hardest part is the mechanical / physical fabrication to make it look somewhat factory. I feel I nailed it on this one.

All pix are mockups of this. I stopped work on this project about 3 years ago because of other issues. Considering starting work on it maybe this winter again. Hoping this helps with some of the other issues when fitting a 42/46RH in an A body

If you are using a factory console automatic shift the torque rod that goes through the floor is located in a way that interferes with the A500 trans case. If you look at post #50, second photo, you will see the elegant, engineered solution the MoparMatt2000 developed to fix it. I used this solution and after over 13,000 miles I can attest to how slick and smooth the solution works. If you ask really nicely, and he still has the jig he made to modify that rod, you might be able to pay Matt to re-engineer your rod... maybe

Anybody notice how I have it attached at the lower end to the trans crossmember bracket using a stock transmission plastic lower rod bushing, on a custom bracket welded in place to the crossmember. Honestly, this is probably the only way to do this.

heres how it's done. You have to tack weld the stock floor shift arm to a piece of steel angle and weld up a bracket locating the arm. This way when you put it all back together the arm is located in the same spot. I still have the jig I use to make 2 of these, but lack the time lately. This can be easily done with solid rod stock the same diameter as what the OEM shifter rod is made from, a little fab skillz, and a mig welder.

STR12-340 I am glad it's working well for you. I suppose I am a backyard engineer lol.
