Appropriate Wheel Offset for 18" Wheels?

Yeah, you're right... Section width was just a hair lengths wider than 10" so no 9.5" wide wheel. I was too into the numbers... So now my options are a 245/40/18 or a 255/35/18. Lame... :/

So the closest wheels to fitting straight off the market are going to be the Drag Wheels, again. At least their cheap.

Wow, I've never seen that Dart before. It looks awfully pretty. I need to join that other forum asap.

So we know you did some bodywork on the rear quarters to make those fit, did you do anything to the front?

I have 275/35/18's on my Duster, but they're on 18x9's. I haven't had any issues on the fenders yet, but I still just touch the frame at full lock. But I also think the steering stops on my lower ball joints are smaller than some...

No problems with the frame clearance running the Hotchkis TVS. Very minor front fender massaging, mostly at the rear of the front wheel opening. What is the offset on your 18x9s?

My 18x9's have a 35mm offset, but I run 13" Dr Diff rotors and 3mm spacers, so my effective offset compared to stock 73+ rotors is 27mm now. I haven't done anything to the fenders and haven't had any problems, but I still just lightly rub the frame in the back at full lock. Just enough to rub the paint off now. I also had to cut down the corner of my Z-bar brace. Based on what I've seen for steering stops on some other ball joints I think my lower ball joints allow a little more steering than others.

Can you run just a bit more spacer so that it keeps it off the frame, and still have fender clearance?

Yeah that's the plan, although I'm about to change fenders so I haven't pulled the trigger on the new spacers yet. 5 or 6mm would probably be plenty, it really is a minor rub.
 
Don't forget camber angle being a factor. Tom said hes runnin 2.75 NEG IIRC. I bet that equates to about 3/4" at the top of the tire give or take. Seems 18x9.5's are pretty common in the 38-45mm bs range and I think I may end up with a set of those and the same tires Tom is running. Was also considering 19x11's and 305/30/19's but I need to get the damn car back on the road before that happens.

Im sure I would Tom! They are an affordable tire in 200aa and that size is "doable" on about any A-body. Uchoog runs 285's and 18x9.5 on his Duster as well.
 
So I have actually have something worthwhile to add... I saw these over at GRM and for the price they may seem like a great deal! Not ideal for me but it gets me in the 18" crowd.

The only problem is that they are 30 mm offset I am looking for about 40 (I have a similar setup to 72NewBlue) FMJ spindle, eventually dr diff 13 disks, early RMS tubular control arms, strut rods, firm feel tie rods.

I also have a Diplomat rear 8.25 (this is a fantastic rear for my goals) with Grand Cherokee disks. Do you think these wheels will be "close enough" with some spacers. I plan an a 275/40 square set-up?
 
And they are gone! I should have purchased them when I posted this... oh well it looks like Enkeis' for me...
 
So, I think I'm going to purchase the Enkei RP03's in 18x9, +40mm offset for the fronts and +18mm offset for the rears with a Michelin Super Sport 255/40/18 all around. It's going to be tight with no reworking, but I think it will fit. If not, I'll just buy some very thin spacers and then call it a day.

I still think you're going to need spacers up front with a +40 offset, even with the Dr. Diff 13" rotors.

I know that compared to my set up, with 275/35/18's on 18x9's with 35mm offset, Dr. Diff 13" rotors and a 3mm spacer, the 255's and 40mm offset show as being .1" further off the suspension, but that's not the only thing to consider. The 255/40/18's are over .25" taller than my 275's, and that will come into play. My tires still touch the frame at full lock, and tire height plays a bigger factor there than offset. Granted, my wheels just barely touch, but I think with a taller 255/40/18 you'll end up with interference at full lock. My guess would be that you'll need at least a 5mm spacer to make them clear in the front.

Not that a 5mm spacer is a deal breaker, but it might be necessary. Heck, I need to go to a 5 or 6mm spacer to finally get mine completely clear if I can manage the room to the outside.
 
I ordered 4 of the AMR charcoal wheels for my dart project. I haven't done a test mount yet but hopefully will this weekend. I don't ahve tires for them yet but hope to run the 275/35/18 like BBSwinger but i will have these on all 4 corners. I will be running (eventually) a 8.8 explorer rear with the drivers side cut down some. I will mini-tub the rear (for future tires fitment). The wheels don't have quite the offset I was hoping for but for the money you can't beat them.

Yeah, I've kind of figured it may come to that. If I need a spacer, I really don't want anything more than 1/4". My other option besides the 255's would be the 245/40's which will bring the tires in a bit and will be just as tall as a 275/35. And the wheel only comes in those two offsets.
 
I just placed my order on wheels. I'm wondering if I should order 245/40/18's and start by there or just stick with the 255/40/18's and fiddle around. Remeasuring, I think I'm going to need some small spacers but as long as I have good thread engagement, I think I should be fine. I can't afford to have the wheel hit the frame rails due to brake lines.
