Breather blow by

You will still need a baffle. You can get a push in breather, but would maybe be easier to put the pcv valve in the pictured hole. Grommet will have to be for an aluminum valve cover.
 
I was going to use the hole in the front closer to the carb base plate, which is baffled. However, the grommet that came with the PCV wont seal all the way. The cut outs for the twist in hole would still be exposed. I was thinking finding a grommet that would seal the cut outs (1/8-1/4" larger) and just using a filler cap on the hole that does not have a baffle.

Did you get a regular pcv valve or an ME Wagner adjustable pcv valve? You will still need a baffle, even under the breather, well, my opinion I guess. I have never had luck without them, even had to make one for my '72 stock valve cover under the twist in oil filler cap.
 
Regular PCV Summit part 440308. Was looking at the following grommets, which may work. Scott Drake C7AZ-6892 or Dorman 42324. What's the reason for the baffle if the push in oil filler cap is sealed/non-breathable?
 
Try M-6892-F breather and PCV Ford grommets works on my aluminum valve covers and covers the twist in hole
 
Well , that's an air inlet for the pcv valve. Plus, the rocker right under will be throwing oil right at it. You can try it without, but there should be a baffle under it.
 
May just pull the cover and add a baffle then if that's the correct way of going about it. Figured moving the filler cap to back hole without a baffle using a push in and moving the PCV to the front hole with a baffle would suffice. Any specific baffle kit I should look at?

If you have cast valve covers I’ve had to make many baffles over the years.

For the most part they weren’t installed on the covers, they were just in the box.

Guys didn’t install them and they’d get lost.

Flat sheet metal with bends on both sides is all you need.
 
The baffle is the same on both sides. I would pull the other cover too, and use the other for a template. They are screwed in. Thin aluminum or steel will work. Locktite the screws.
 
Will be replacing the valve cover gaskets as well. What are the thoughts on rubber vs cork gaskets? I was looking at the Moroso 93050, which has great reviews.
 
They are good. I have the Felpro cork/rubber on mine, been 3 + years, off and on several times. Little spot of silicone here and there to hold them to the valve cover. Your choice.
 
Pulled the cover, installed the baffle and installed the PCV. Had a bit of blow by at first when at temp then went away.
