Hey everyone I'm new here wanted to get some advise on the almighty best cam for your setup opinions. What's the best ideal brand and if I should stick with hydraulic flat tappet or solid flat tappet. I've been researching for awhile now. And I'm just not sure what to go with? I'm looking to pull 400bhp out of my engine. So here's my setup! 67 dart gt 360 with March pulleys 600 cfm carb which I plan on upgrading to a holly and a torquer 2 340 intake 360 j heads stock ports and rockers cam current is comp xe 256 hydraulic flat tappet with comp spring and lifters stock pushrods bored 0.30 over Keith black hyperpuetectic pistons comp is around 9:5:1 to 9:8:1 eagle rods stock cast crank high volume water pump and a holly electric fuel pump. Built 727 with full manual valve body and a 2500 stall. Rearend is a amc 20 with limited si and unknown gears. Would like to change. The car will weigh around 3000 lbs or so. Let me know what you guys suggest thanks!

My personal preference is a lunati voo doo hyd flat tappet.
The 10200703 (old 60403) with ported heads should get you in that area.
I am sure there are many other choices and opinions out there.

Yeah I've looked into that cam I've checked into racer brown crane and clay smith too.

IMO, It will take a lot more cam than a voodoo 268 or comp xe268h to get a TRUE 400 hp out of a stock port 360. If the heads are ported and work well, then you may get there.

I'd be more in line with the biggest voodoo Hyd the old 60405

If you don't have an intake, I'd steer more towards an RPM or air gap over a torquer II.

Shout it from the highest mountain. The torker II sucks balls. The stock 340 intake is probably better.

On the cam, if you plan on adjustable rockers, a mild solid in the 230-240 @ .050 range on like a 112 LSA would be a great choice.

Kevin,

Don't worry about getting to 400 HP.
Look to what will do the 'job' on your "Street/Strip' car.

You should have an idea of what Gears are in that AMC 20 'Limited-Slip'
before jumping with the Camshaft.
* 3.08
* 3.31
* 3.54
* 3.73

3000 lbs. {listed Shipping Weight} is correct for a 1967 Dodge Dart GT.

AMC 20 not that strong of an axle, they have 2 piece axles, plus the bolt pattern is 5 x 5.5.
You really might want to reconsider this.

AMC 20 wouldn't be my first choice either, but 1 piece axles are available for them...at least they used to be the last time I picked up a copy of Quadratec or 4WD...

400 hp your gonna need 286 or more cam and probably like 750 carb but your also gonna need more stall and gear

Damnit well everyone I'm gonna check into the lunati cams I won't be doing solid cam so stock rockers it is for now. And lol the amc 20 axle I bought was out of a 87 Wagoneer it's temporary I'm using the leaf springs though until I find a 8 3/4 with 3:55 or 3:91s I'm golden how big of a lift can I go on stock iron heads before it's an issue? I was told around 520 range if it's true.

I like the Lunati cams as well, I've got a 60404 in my 340. If you're planning more street than strip, I don't think I'd go bigger. But my Duster will have daily driver status here pretty quick, so that may be conservative if you're planning on less than the 10k miles a year that I do.

Here's the specs

.060" over with KB 243 hyper pistons, .018" over the deck, ~9.8:1
Forged crank turned .20/.20
Stock 340 rods, resized with ARP bolts
308 heads, 2.02/1.60 valve, 65 cc's chambers, stage II ported and flowing 264 cfm at .500"
Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers, Smith pushrods
Lunati 60404 Hydraulic cam, .513/.533", 276/284 advertised duration
Eddy rpm air gap
Doug's headers
Holley 770 street Avenger

Not exactly sure where I'm at hp wise yet, still doing some tuning. Hopefully I'll have it to the dyno pretty soon. But I'm pretty sure it's north of 400 hp.

bigger carb like a 750 would help.and ill throw in my 2 cents....isky 284 mega 284* 236@50 .505 lift 106 or 108 lsa. or schneider cams 284 solid...284* 240@50 .510 lift .014 lash 110 lsa.

Sounds mean and so healthy! I plan on going with a 750 holly trust me even with my little 600 with my 256 cam is not enough.

See I have a xe 256 in right now the motor is fresh all I did was break in the cam and drove it once up and down the driveway lol it was set up for a jeep so it's got good low end I'm afraid I'm not gonna like it at top it's gonna be a turd! Unless you guys suggest I run it and could change the carb and intake setup! But now since I have a rebuilt 727 with a 2500 stall I dunno!

I won't be doing solid cam so stock rockers it is for now.

Keep in mind that some of these cams you are considering will require a "dual" valve spring. As the pressure goes up, stamped rocker reliability goes down...
