ceramic coating header recommendation

-
Jet hot in north carolina quoted me $300 for slant six long tubes, inside and out, with a lifetime warrenty. Since these headers are NOS, and haven't been made for many years, I think that's the way I will go. I can save shipping, by dropping them of on my way to a race in June. Only about an hour out of my way.

Hey Charlie,
Are you happy with the Jet Hot job on your clifford header? Im in the market for coating my TTIs.

I do want them done on the inside, also. Lifetime warranty means nothing if the company doesn't honor it. That's why I'm asking for recomendations.

Then don't use Jet Hot. They used to offer a lifetime warranty but so many people were sending them back for recoating they stopped. I don't think there's a ceramic coating out there that can handle headers like you'd think they're supposed to. @CudaChick1968 might have some ideas.

I want to know who "those guys" are who say ceramic coatings make the metal brittle. As one who has done high temp ceramic coatings (which were liquids applied over lightly media blasted metal and allowed to air dry), I fail to see the logic in this statement. Don't pass along rumors unless you have experienced it yourself.

JetHot has been bought and sold several times over the years.

Check out Performance Coatings in Georgia. They usually do nice work.

Well there you go......

Thanks Leanna!

Well Ill check locally to see if the powdercoat guys/gals do inside as well. The car is now black and I (oddly) always like the white headers I saw. That Swain place does that (white) coating and boasts it works really good but dont expect it to look good. They outright admit that shipping alone can/will mar the surface. I dont really mind that either if it keeps temps down. Ill think about it. Shipping and waiting are not my strong suit.

Thanks for all the replies on a 2 year old thread!
You guys Rawk!

In conversations with most companies about this, in the same boat about a used set of TTIs I got from @Johnny Dart, they won’t offer or very little warranty for they’re work. All because headers are used. I did one header myself using VHT and allowed to cure completely. Not sure what to do.

Be sure to follow instructions for best chance at adherence. Most that i have seen have a heat up/cool down X2 situation. Second heat cycle being higher than the first.
