Chrysler brings back the Dodge Dart

-
I am sure they are just going to drag another Chrysler name in the mud.....Such as Charger,GTX,R/T,Aspen,Magnum and so on.Now if they make a Dart that is a two door with a performance V8, and is the same price or cheaper than a Mustang I may be interested.

I have mixed feelings about it. I hope they at least try to make it look like an American car. Not a euro box with dodge name plates. It's hard to imagine a 4 banger dart :s

Did they say where the new Dart and its engine are going to be built?
They will be made at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois. And I think I read the engines will be built in Michigan.

yep there's quite a few...in addition, type dodge demon into google images and look what comes up! and they're cancelling the dakota....don't know exactly what they're thinking but they better not screw up a classic nameplate such as "Dart"

Too bad alot of the stuff on that jalopnik about our cars is incorrect.

How much you guys wanna bet it's only available as a 4 door sedan. Oh well, Who wants a fun to drive 2-door anyway?

Calm down,we still have not seen what the boys at SRT have in store for it yet.:burnout:

In a recent issue of C&D or Automobiel (can't remember which one). Ralph Gilles hinted at an SRT4 on a future platform. it wasn't directly linked to the Dart, but it only makes sense here.

I'm surprised by all the negativity from Mopar followers. I'm not sure I like the name, but it looks to be a good car that should raise the bar in the small car category (something that Chrysler definately needs). The whole Daimler debacle left Chrysler with nothing, except the 300 and Charger. People may not like the Charger name being used, but it is a great car for the money. Ford and GM can't touch them. The last couple of years are showing some real promise. Chrysler has a bunch of car guys at the top. They are trying to bring products to market to set the new standard in the segment. Take a look: Charger, 300, Durango, Cherokee etc. As they get rid of the junk (caliber, sebring etc) and replace this with new cars, engines and power trains, Mopar enthusiasts should be happy. Take a look at the SRT's and the new Viper that will deput this year. Yeah I know there expensive, but what isn't anymore. As a Mopar enthusiast (and no I do not work for Chrysler), I am ecstatic about the future, and want to see them succeed. Sorry for the long rant.

Personally, I like the retro-badging. I think the the new Charger is a good car and I like the modern take on that nameplate even though it's a 4 door. I think they could've did a better job with the Challenger though in terms of weight. I think the new Dart will be where the Neon and Caliber left off.

Fiat has been around for manay, many years (somehow) - and has never had a good reputation for their cars - function, style or quality. I'm scared to death at what they are going to do to Chrysler in the long haul.
