Cinnamon 75 Duster \

Hey Keith looking great!
If you have the rear absorbers out of the car, will you please try to make a paper pattern of the 3 holes in it? I want to essentially make a bracket out of angle iron. Let me know if you can work it out.
Thanks

No problem, but not sure what your asking for. Thought you had it figured out to used sections of my old inner bumper. PM me more details of what you need

Grillin'...

Always a good thing on July 4th. Just got done making (and eating) some BBQ chicken on the grill out back. But before that I spent a few hours on the Duster. Got the lower grille and bumper filler together and installed. Then the put the grille in. Started rounding up parts for the headlights, but wrapped it up due to rain starting.

Another pic not in direct sun. These are GE Nighthawks. Wired through relay kit from @slantsixdan Will aim them after the bumpers are on and ride height set.

Got the fillers on the back. Hardest part was battling the wasps, who aparrently have a residence in the frame rail.
I guess these things shrunk since new. There is a gap between them. Gotta wonder why they did front 1 piece and back in 3.

3 pieces - - intended to drive future restores friggin' bonkers! (and I have read some of your posts - it's working!!)

Had a great (but hot) day at Carlisle yesterday. Met up with some members. Got a few odds and ends.
I had replaced the rear view mirror with a slightly better but slightly different one before, but still was not 'good' Found one with near perfect glass in it and the exact style it had originally for $15. Was on a B body mount, but my mount was in good shape and they are interchangeable.
Found some cleaned up original side bumpers for the hood. I had bought new from Metro last year, but they are wrong (one laying in pic) would not allow the hood to close! Also got new adjusters. They had some lettering in the top of the rubber and were way too shiny. Ran my DA sander on them with 220grit and ..no more letters. Then went over the whole thing with 400 and buffed it with a pad on the drill. Now they have a little sheen instead of the brand new cheap plastic look.

Details, details. Saw the visors in my mirror pic I posted and decided that was next. Took them off yesterday and painted with same paint I have been using on the hard plastic. Krylon stainless on the mounts. Just installed.

Pulled the air duct out of a box yesterday. Scrubbed it and hosed it down. Today I reglued the foam on the back and did a little repair. One of the pivot points was gone. I VERY carefully drilled a hole. started with a pilot hole then with just a bit in my fingers to stay at correct angle -enlarged it. Took the stem out of a pop rivet. cut one side flat for clearance. slid in from the back using the stem I removed as a guide from other side. was pretty tight, but added a little JB weld to secure it from the back.

After those warm up exercises, I moved on to some heavier parts. Put front absorbers and fender braces on. And, finally figured out how the brace under radiator to Kframe goes. Figured it out last week, but took a couple pics under cars at Carlisle to be sure. Problem was it was bent. Couple taps here and there and it's all good.

but that's not all...
Back bumper is on. Wasps were harmed.
As I lined up the bolts on the right absorber and looked into the box on the end of the frame rail I saw a few of them on the nest about a foot from my nose. Didn't have any wasp spray, so I gave them a shot of rust reformer. LOL Had to do battle with a few more as they continued to come looking for their nest.
I have been trying but never got my hands on the retainer clips for the bumper bolts that go to the absorbers. Would have made things a lot easier. Especially on the bottom bolts it was tough to keep them from pushing back while trying to thread the nut on. (1 or 2 more people might have been good too) But I was determined to get it on. Set it up on a plastic container and some boards really close to the right height and maneuvered it in as I started the threads. Got them just starting to snug and gave it a few nudges to align it. Then tightened all.
Not the prettiest bumper. Quite speckled in fact, but will have to do for a while. Some time after I get the paint done I can consider the investment in nice chrome...

Looks really nice dude! I'm glad that inner bumper was put to good use in a nice Duster!

Got the belts mounted to the roof and the ones through the seats. Had the bolts switched at first. Figured longer to the roof cause they have a spacer. Nope. Longer is through the double belts then the holes is deeper in the hump... Hopefully I will get a nicer set to replace all of them eventually. The plastics for the front centers are broken and the long belt still don't look great after dying. Sorted through a few boxes/piles at Carlisle but didn't find the right ones.

About 15 minutes closer to Princeton. Still in Holmdel, just on the other side...
Looking forward to seeing you on the 13th.

Zkx14- I ordered those window felts from Josh's Muscle car parts you mentioned the other day. Put them on my 74 Duster, but the drivers outside felt (with the chrome strip) did not fit right. You mentioned that yours fit? Mine stuck up in the center- quite a bit on the drivers side. Yours fit perfect? Just trying to compare it to something.
