clifford or offenhouser intake??

I got a question these two intake look almost identical to look at but there is some difference between the two which one would u recommend and why

LOL, Good question 66. On the amount of available intakes for the /6. How would you yourself rate and/or describe them?
 
Getting back to your questiong though, the first things that come to mind is that the Offy has bigger runners and will allow more high end horsepower, less low end torque though which as we all know is the foundation which these engines run off of. Also too, the Cliffor requires the use of headers as where I THINK the Offy doesn't.
 
the clifford has A LOT more runner volume AND plenum volume.

Offy usage=stock to mild hp

clifford usage=HP street strip with higher rpms in mind and or a lot of over boring/headwork.

You are correct. The Offy is just like a stock 1 or 2 barrel in that a stock exhaust manifold mates up perfectly.
 
So anybody wanna swap a Clifford for a Offy? Sounds like the Clifford might be a better match for me.

Frank its a turbo build with a modified stock exhaust manifold
And the reason I'm asking because I already had the Clifford that I port matched and lightly polished but a offy intake with a lightly used holley carb fell into my possession
The one thing I don't care about the Clifford is the carb sits perpendicular with the motor which causes me to have to run a one inch carb spacer with me carb hat on I can't get my hood to close so I may have to cut some of the bracing from my hood

I was able to lightly massage the stock exhaust manifold in a couple areas to get a good match with the Clifford intake and the head

Or were u referring to the proper exhaust pressure flow?

I thought you could do that, I had to clearance my clifford between the runners just to fit my MP full length header thats designed around the stock intake flange fitment
 
For your turbo build I would use the Offy. I have been led to believe that in FORCED induction that you want shorter runners. I would NOT polish the inside of the runners as you want a certain amount of turbulence to help atomize the fuel. As one of our faster cars found out with our Aussie Speed Hurricane Intakes.
Since I dont run a Turbo this is all basis on information I have gleaned from others that I know and respect. I WILL have first hand knowledge on Roots type Super Chargers soon. I will have multiple intakes to test on my mule engine.

I might be wrong here but the clifford has the same length runners as a stock intake as well the offy, mine has the bosses for bolting to the exhaust manifold, I drilled them to hold me super 6 linkage, so if they longer it could only be the fatter outer end runners
that give this illusion...cause the center runner have no where to hide that length, they are stock length.
it's the runner width which equates to volume, more runner volume.

I can agree based on the 'velocity idea' that for better low speed 'below the turbo' characteristics the offy could be the better choice but there many factors in the tune and parts selection department that'll effect this.

I don't own an off but I do own a clifford and have the stock gamet of intakes, I could measure the total volume of the intake/s

I believe Clifford makes 2 different intakes for the chrysler 6 the one that is pictured in these posts and a copy of the (Ram Pak) from the mid 60's Nascar experiment. The Nascar exp has super long runners. This maybe causing confusion about volume and runner length.

You mean the Hyper Pak intake !!! I want one sooooo bad !!!
 
I run the Hyper-pak w/ boost and don't have any issues. I even ported it out. Good throttle response. I did have a bit of an issue at higher boost levels with the carb turned sideways. I can get a more consistant A/F w/ it in its current local. Later

Dang. Don't they have google where you live? lol Here they all are. The Clifford, Offenhauser, Aussie short and Aussie Long.

That is correct The Aussie Speed line is the ONLY Equal length Production Manifold available for 2 bbl, 4bbl, or Blower use.
