The black paint didn't want to stick to the tail pannel... I may need to scruff it up first, then primer, then paint...

Found my self etch primer...

Also said F it to hand sanding... took the orbital sander with 400 grit and sanded the spots it would fit all to the same level. The anodizing is off in those areas, not quite as good in the corners but good enough for the girls I go with... polished it will look much better than it was. Ill hand wet sand with 800/1000/1500 tonight. I need to figure out how to get the middle portion of the grill a little better, but again it won't be show quality... just much nicer.

Took a licensing exam today, studying for it the past couple of days is the reason I havent done much on the car.

Today I did some light sanding with 800, 1000 and 1500 grit...I'm over sanding... then I did some polishing by hand... Im liking it... FYI touching this now instantly gets it dirty lol... its going to suck to tape to paint it...

Most all polishes contain waxes of some sort. If not to help the shine, it's a carrier for the abrasives.

Get some lacquer thinner or metal prep (I prefer lacquer thinner in most cases, but don't wipe painted surfaces with it!) and wipe the part down prior to paint. Agitate with a brush or cloth that has some "fluff" to it so that it can really scrub any contaminants off. Once the surface is truly clean oil free, prime and then paint. Always start each layer, including primer, with a dusty "tack" coat to prevent runs, wet spots (which will dry funny or not at all, or won't adhere), and bring out anything that wants to "fisheye" before you get too far into it.

Sanded and taped a bunch today. Almost ready to start spraying primer.

Cleaning the tail panel today and the tape started coming off so looks like I'll have to tape that again lol.

I’ve got a couple 69 dart grilles I’ll send your way when your all done. Thanks

Awesome! I'd love an extra grill.... :poke:

It would be nice to have the inner portion a little more smooth, but at the end of the day this will look much better.

How many feet do you have>?....should equal the number of shoes.....if you only had two pair of shoes...you probably could have a couple pair of aluminum heads...

I was going to make that same comment.... great minds think alike :poke:

Most of my shoes I purchased before the mopar. I havent been buying shoes lately, most of them now I get for presents.

Primer only works much better as a first coat than the paint + primer...at least over the areas where aluminum was showing...

I wouldn't bother trying to wet sand that. With so many edges, you're more likely to make something ugly and have to redo it ;)

It already looks a million times better than before!

Going to need that GTS badge a little sooner than I thought....

Clear is already sprayed on the grill and the headlight bezels. 1 coat of primer (should have done 2) on the tail panel and 1 coat of black on the panel.
