Got a little bit done... just need to drill some holes and install the body mounts. I think this looks correct for the sway bar.

The scratch looks a "little" better but not much. I waxed the area like 4 or 5 times with Maguire's wax. It probably needs a polishing compound.

Driving the car for the first time after the sway bar and radiator installed and holy moly it's like a whole new suspension system was installed. Now I just need the rear to sit a little higher. I also rolled the rear fender as much as I could, gained maybe 1/3 to 1/2 inch clearance

The rear end feels so much stiffer and the rear end feels so much more planted to the ground. I absolutely love it!

The car also stayed nice and cool. The top of the cold case radiator gets a little hotter than the stock steel one I noticed

Rode some bikes out front of the house as well but now shes got croup

@70aarcuda came to my house today, what a super nice guy with tons of knowledge.

I did a wet compression test today. Looks like rings on cylinder 2 and 3 aren't sealing as well.

I'm going to start disassembling the engine tomorrow because he is going to come back on tuesday to help me install the camshaft, lifters, springs, timing chain and valve seals.

Today didnt do much. Got some tinfoil and a little bowl of water which made my exhaust tips look oh so nice! I also used some on my redlines and it cleaned them up a little. I'll probably do the chrome polish on them again.

I also used by hand the polishing compound, it worked a little better the scratch is still noticeable but not nearly as much. After that I waxed there and then waxed the hood. I think I'm going to go buy a little orbital buffer and do the entire car, doing it by hand takes way to much time, and your arm starts to hurt lol.

Get some 1000 or finer grit sand paper at the auto parts store, and very lightly wet sand the scratch. Use one of the soft spongy(sp?) sanding blocks, and a bowl of warm water with several drops of dishwashing liquid in it to wet sand with. I use Dawn dishwashing liquid, but I doubt it will matter what brand. Sand just enough to smooth out the scratch, and feather it back an inch or 2 on either side. Hit it with the polishing compound to get the haze out from sanding. You could use a dab of rubbing compound before the polishing compound if you have any. That small of an area....do it by hand. Practice on the bottom of the hood or a door jamb first to get the hang of it.

Most of the scratch is smooth to the rest of the paint just not perfect still. I have some sandpaper 1-1500 grit, but I dont want to mess up the paint to much that is an Expensive redo lol.
You can totally feel a difference in the paint from where I used the polishing compound and then wax only. The polishing compound made the paint so much more smooth to the touch.

I think I got a little bit done today... only thing left on is the balancer and the timing cover.

@billsdartgt I think you're right... I'm going to catch the bug because now I want to clean up the engine/bay/kframe. I'm also trying to make myself not want to pull the heads (because I do...) my wife might divorce me after this :lol:

well you can change your name then to DDD, Divorced Dental Dart LOL - hopefully not, go get slurpees and sit in the car while its in the garage - if the kiddos love it momma has to love it too

Haha yea I guess you can safely assume I was unaware there are 7oz. Corona bottles... I just saw the box that I assumed was coronas. :lol:
 
I have a number of Hispanic folks that I manage. The other day one said Hola senor'. I replied with Hola Senorita. She said "no senoritas here!". When I asked she told me that's the word for young or unmarried woman and she's older and married, lol. I should have called her senora! Who knew??

I learned a new Spanish word.
 
I also bent my valve covers oops. But I cant find the mopar performance valve covers anywhere (besides the 400 dollar ones) only have been able to find these. Still trying to decide, maybe if I paint "Mopar" white they would match my air cleaner. I like the gold morso ones for sale here on FABO but $145 and I dont know if they would match all to well, but my daughter would love them.

Most guys have extra stock valve covers, just ask around.

Those matching valve covers are gold now, they quit making them.
I have a new in the box set for my next build.

Strikers are expensive! I was looking at kits last night though. I'm taking the heads off here in a bit and we will check out my motor and go from there :thumbsup:

I got a set! From the same guy I got my air cleaner from. I thought about the gold morso covers but the gold just won't match, they are super cool though

Want a stroker, Find a good machineable empty block and main caps and a decent correct timing cover since that's all your going to use out of the short block anyways, unless it's a pass car block in which case you will also keep the pan and oil pickup tube. Soak the bores and such in LPS-3 and wrap it in a clean trash bag. Stand it up in the corner of the garage for later. If one pops up that's a good deal, then get it. You can always buy a stroker kit, you cant always find a good block to put it in. Then you can build it slowly and methodically as funds allow you to all while driving and enjoying your car, then swap it in a weekend. Sometimes complete used rotating assemblies pop up on fabo from time to time.

This is where and how the addiction starts, one of the things I have never seen is how it ends LOL

you can find some small scale copies of our cars, perhaps you can find your kiddos one and have them paint and tweak it while you are working on the ride, will be something to keep them going when the car is sitting on jackstands
 
Hey Doc how's things out there? You have more time to work on the car? My wife's a Dental Assistant and has spent all day Friday and today re-scheduling.........
