DV is going with the pistons to up Cr this should help when and if they add the bigger heads. DV dnt know dick about mopar said as much and I suppose f you have flow benches and people willing to grind and polish heads as a "charity donation" you can do just about anythng...look what the Chrysker engineers did when they took the 273 ddesign and made it into the 340 hell they recast the whole block and heads....:)

The '69 318 that you purchased will have the open chamber heads, 9.2:1 cr flat top valve relief pistons. Factory rated at 230 hp.

Just putting a 4 bbl on it even with the stock cam gives them the fuel they need, wakes them up nicely.

Some where in the 1.60's from memory. MPH was around 105.


Maybe just Maybe David knows what he is doing and doesn't want or need a 360 head. Sit back and let David do his thing and see what he ends up with.

Surprised that nobody has not mentioned what happens to stock 1972 318 compression ratio when 360 heads gets bolted onto it.

7.5 cr is about where it comes in.

So what? I’ll take air flow and a properly sized port over compression any day, and I’m the biggest advocate of high compression pump ga engines I know of.

In theory you want both but in the real world sometimes you can’t get both.

Take the better cylinder head every time and you’ll make more power.

I didn't miss squat. Wait a minute there is something I miss I miss you shutting the hell up. You do not add anything to the conversation or the thread whatever you prefer to call it so just keep your mouth shut everything will go smoother you'll have a more harmonious outcome to your day. I don’t care how smart you think you are, or how smart you think DV is (what is comical because DV’s not even doing the heads nor is AW…what does that make you think????) the issue is why start with an inferior head, port the hell out of it (again I ask how much would Servedio be charging IF he was getting paid for this comedy of errors and we know he’s not getting paid much if any), ANGLE MILL (???????????) the heads all in an effort to make 318 HP with 318 inches.

Thats just STUPID.

This whole build is a 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s, 2010’s and now we are into the ’20’s magazine article build where the authors claim they can build 500 HP on 350 inches and do it while pulling all the parts out of the junk yard.

If you are going to do a build like this, why not show how to do it in the real world? Like screwing with stock rods.

I‘d love to know how many rods DV went through to get 8 close enough in end weights to knock the balance pads like that. I’m betting if you had 40 rods there you’d have a hard time finding 8 that could take that much weight off the pin ends and still get them balanced.

How many guys are going to see his video where he half assed shows what he does and are going to take a grinder to their rods, grind the balance pad and junk the set because the end weights are so far off?

Thats what I see going wrong. And let’s say the guy at home did screw up his rods?? He probably already bought bolts. So He’s out that money. Plus his time and matériels to grind the rods…all wasted.

Of course, much like you do regularly these guys are changing and ignoring the rules for the build that THEY laid down.

I could go on but even a floating retard can see what an idiotic endeavor this is.

And I know DV has his heart in the right place. He’s is donating all the profits from this to St. Jude’s. You can’t beat that.

Again, my issue is the methods and parts they are using.

If someone wants to donate a 318 and some parts I can get 318 HP plus out of one and use stock pistons and whatever the compression is with 360 heads.

Oh HELL no. Why would I work THAT hard? I’m not saying I couldn’t do it but again, who wants to do all that extra work except the guys who like dick measuring contests even though they lose every time.

Even if I had to use a Torker or a Street Dominator and an 1850 Holley rather than a 650 DP and Strip Dominator I would do that over a 2 bbl.

And I say the cost will be close because I’m not wasting time and money turd buffing the rods (I’d use them dead stock) nor would I lay a grinder on the heads.

I wouldn’t spend all that time shaping the counterweights (BTDT and in back to back tests I didn’t find a single, reliable HP…not one and that was at 8500) which is a fools errand but it looks good in magazines.

Its all about HP/$$$$. I know (in true comic book fashion) no one is counting the costs of all that grinding and the time to do it so their costs are artificially low.
