Detroit engines ,you like....not mopar...

I liked the Mopar 2.2/2.5 & later 2.0/2.4 Neon engines. Both suffered from cheap head gaskets though.
I also like the Mopar V6 3.3/3.8 engines.

Pontiac 195 four cylinder high comp and a 4 barrel carb, a cut in half 389 !

I always liked how fords Cleveland Windsor and Modified were so close together you come up what ever you wanted with them.

Cool vid. Just think how bad the trucking industry would be hurting today if drivers had to deal with this!
I did around a million with simple (comparatively) Eaton/Fuller 9 and 10 speeds... with a few Mack 5 and 6 speeds thrown in.
Anywho, my vote is for the 300 Ford straight six.

Had one of these beasts in a 62 GMC pickup, ***** to get running right but when they do it is all low end.

Ford's Big Block six. The 240 and 300.

Damn near indestructible, great pulling power.

Woke up a 250 GM motor with triple single barrels, three into one headers, head work and a cam. *That* was a hard pulling little engine, too.

As far as Detroit engines?

Love the sound of a 4-53.

I think the strangest motor I had was in my 64 GMC. It was a v6 305. Operated between 1000 and 2000 RPMs only. Granny 4-speed with a top speed of about 55 to 60. Cool truck bought it for 900 at the beginning of the summer and used it all summer(2012) and sold it in the Fall for 1800. I wish I could have kept it but you can't keep them all.
With that said I had a 79 Trans Am with a 403 6.6 Oldsmobile back in the day for a few years and I liked it. For the last couple years I've been helping a guy restore a 79 Trans Am slowly and we have the 6. 6 almost ready to go and it's mildly modified. I'm eager to see how it works.

I liked my early 85 super charged 2.2 omni. motor. The turbo II's were fast. I just liked this motor for some reason. It would hit like a slingshot.

Boss429 just look at one of those,as cool as they look they dont even need to run good, once saw one in a 63-64 galaxie and it looked just like home in that big landyacht.
427SOCH,those are some seriously bad boys.

455Buicks just because they run very well and most dont expect a buick to run hard.

455 olds olds rocket, gotta love the torque. And the old reliable 12 valve and early 24 valve 5.9 Cummins all the torque and good fuel mileage.

Worked at a Buick dealer in the late 70's. Discovered very quickly A 455 Stage 1 was in a different class than my 383 RR. The short stroke 400 Olds (67 was the last year before the dimensions were changed) was a sleeper in a 442. Buick also made the lightest 350 at General Motors. A Poston cam really wakes it up.

I like the 6.2 and 6.5 diesels, they get alot of hate but are great when used for what they were designed to do. Plus they sound amazing through dual exhaust. For modern stuff the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboosts are pretty damn amazing. They will be the new ls swap in the near future.

Since no Mopar, Chevy, or SBF
351 Cleveland
429 and 460 Ford
326 and 389 Pontiac, machined combustion chambers
455 Buick Most underrated muscle motor
455 Olds, Best Friend had one in a Correct Craft Jet Boat
300 Ford straight six, Great gas mileage and would live forever
