DIY floor pans.

I'm in the same boat as you. I need new pans for my Cuda, front floors are gone, along with rails and torsion support. I picked up a '74 4 door Dart summer before last for the front clip, for $800 bucks. Torsion support, rails, inner fenders are going in this summer as a unit.
I need floors, as well as a back floor/hump. I thought about fixing what was there.. got a Hobart 140 welder last summer, with saving again. Another 4 months to get a gas bottle for it.
I'm hoping I can get the floors this summer, but as we need a new roof on the house, probably won't happen.

It sucks not being able to drive this car. I know the feeling.

I agree with 72blu. Why take the time to do all this fiberglass stuff, when you know you have to redo it later? Money and time wasted to me.

I for one, would not ride in a a-body that has fiberglass repairs for a floor. Hit a deer at 60 mph and that car will fold up like an aluminum beer can, with some strawberries inside.

You and your passengers are the strawberries.

Do it right, and safe.

Guess how I know, lol.
Ok I went and looked no rust in the gutters they look good they did have 20 years worth of leaves and dirt in them I'm surprised they are not rusted with all that crap in there no way water is running thru them. There is some surface rust on the inside of the quarter panel I'm gonna have to sand that and prime it soon. Not sure how that rusted has to be from condensation tho it's on the top of the quarter but on the inside . Sorry for the crappy pics its dark out lol

Check this out this is really cool I'm removing the seat belts to get ready to work on the floor pans all if this came out of the lower seatbelt retractor. The little old lady I bought this off of or her passenger must have been a cigar smoker.
Look how good the lower portion of the seat belts looks I'd like to replace the top half but the bottom looks brand new crazy for 45 years old

Ok got the seat belts out and cleaned up all the seams so I can see what I'm working with. I have another question. The red square in the photo is the floor that needs to be replaced that's where I'm gonna remove it the red x area also needs replacing should I try to do it in one large piece or do it in two separate pieces like the factory did?

K.I.S.S. there's always my pawlosophy in this situation. I would do it one piece at a time. Even in the top right corner of your Square there I would 45 that a little bit and take a little less out...

I'm having an awful finding sheet metal every place I find it wants 90 plus shipping. There was one place the shipping was like 500 bucks haha freaking crazy even summit racing who normally has really good shipping prices is 90 bucks shipping 2 pieces is gonna be close to 200 bucks if I cant find it cheaper than that I will spend a extra hundo and get the prefabed ones

If you are rural try the local HS vo ag teacher. See if he can order you a sheet with his next order. Or, find a local welding shop, see if they will order you a sheet on their next load. A sheet of 18 ga 4 x 8 mld steel plat is like what $65-70!!!!!!!in your hand!! You have steel suppliers around there !!!!!

What the heck? get off that damn computer and go look in the scrap yards for some metal... Peal the hood off of one of those cheap Hondas and cut it up into floorboards...

I have a string of customers that love to order parts but don't put them on. They're like fat women and an exercise bicycle...
You got to get on it to make it work...

I'd rather just start with a fresh piece of steel. I dont have any local scrap yards I do have a parts truck setting here but I'd rather have new flat steel before I start cutting into my truck haha last resort maybe
