Dodge A 100 thread

Power steering was an option, but it wasn't a power steering gearbox! It was an added-on hydraulic ram that used a (IIRC) clamped-on control unit. It was weird. I saw a few in the boneyard on some camper versions. I sure miss my old A-100.

That system was used on a lot of vehicles.

We have a '62 Galaxie 500 XL that is a 1 owner survivor in gorgeous shape that is sporting one of those.

It slid around on it's clamps and started bonking the inner tie rod on the driver's side. Guy thought it needed ball joints.

I do actually like the single piece windshield on the ford and chevy vans ....seems dodge and VW were into the two piece set-up

I actually love the 2 piece windshields on the A100s. Makes em unique. An old custom van magazine i had in the 70s showed how to make a split windshield on a ford econoline to make it look similar to an A 100. Back then i woulda just bought the A100 instead. LOL

You wanna hear something funny? (well, maybe not that funny)......when I usedta drive my old A-100 pickup, I had these really loud headers/glasspacks/voom side pipes sticking out in front of the rear wheels.....and......and.....with that split windshield, I dreamed that I was flying a WWII bomber, 'cuz with nothing sticking out in front of you like in a car, it sorta feel airplane-ish. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! There, I said it!! My little truck had the deepest most beautiful sound with those "baloney cut" tips. Like these:

this belongs to a friend of mine, I think the cop dog dish caps are a perfect look on it.

What the hell are these?

???????

Damn they look like 440's but, in a A-100 where the hell, or how the hell did they fit 'em!?

I forgot to mention, I'm doing a model thats going to be a A-100 Monster Truck........ named "Doomz Day" LOL I'll have to post it as the one I "own" LOL

good model comp stuff right there because i also have one in the works .....not a monster truck but a unique A-100 van LOL

lookin for someone with info on the auto used in the a100. i.e. length of tailshaft and where the mount insulator would go on it???

Del "67Dart273" might be able to help you on that one, if I remember correctly... I thought he posted pictures of an odd ball tail shaft to an A102 some time ago, BUT I could be wrong, But....I know someone did! Same thing I believe was used in all of the A-100's.

It was either him, or "TrailBeast" that posted that, been awhile ago!

There's an econoline pickup and an econoline van in 2 separate 'yards around. I really wanna buy the truck. I can pry get it for $250-300. Pretty rough but it'd make a sweet ratrod!!

It was a delivery or service vehicle at one point (sign on the doors) which adds to the coolness I think!!

that pic had me stuck too ....they do look like RB engines ....im assuming 440.

the green circle shows the PCV in the wrong place so I think that valve cover is on the wrong side because that looks like a 1970 driver side valve cover. And the yellow circle, the way that valve cover has the bulge in the middle.....that is definitely a later style 1975+ valve cover.

Interesting pic

Well, they have a lot going for them, thats for sure! BUT your right, the green circled one has the valve cover was swapped left for right....Thats a no-brainer.

The Other one, does have the odd valve cover bulge, which as you mentioned a "later" model, what '75 or so? Now granted, does it have to have that SAME valve cover from '75 plus, or can they both have the same "older" valve covers to make them "match" As in that pic denoting what we just did they aren't a matched pair of RB engines!

Now, to note something else I caught, look at the exhaust manifolds! Those look like LA type center dump types.....NOT, B/RB types! That would normally "dump" to the rear most area of the manifold.

They are Mopar "RB" engines, as the distributor on BOTH is in the "front" of each block.....

The question is, WHAT "RB" engine size could they be? They are Orange, which denotes the 440, BUT, who's to say they weren't 383's painted that way NOT stock before they were placed between the frame rails.... We know or think we know that the one with the raised center valve cover, is a 440 as that was the only RB to make it past '75? I thought I seen that the 413 did too, but....I question that as they really all look the same on the outside, its just there were a LOT more 440's made then say the 413 and all the other "RB" big blocks....

Needless to say both those motors pictures shoe-horned into a A-100 Van or Truck, is impressive! I just can't for the life of me figure out how the hell they did it, as there is not a lot of space to do such things in the A-100!

Just picked up this in Central Texas.........yeah it was OBO :D

that is a sweety of a van...I love the fact that it has a slanty.......have fun :thumleft:

looks like an A-108...right?

So it has doors both sides? WOW thats different, I thought that was just something "new" on vans, or well relatively, "new" if you wanna call it that!?

I wasn't aware that doors on each side were available either.....

There were different interior packages available when they were new to suit the buyer's commercial use.....so the dual side doors must have been part of a an interior package intended for moving large items.....maybe a furniture moving van?
