Very nice. I started playing as a junior in HS, played around for a few years really for my own amusement. I got decent enough where I can pick up songs pretty quickly, but I've always been clumsy on the strings regardless of how much I play. I had an old epi SG for a few years until moving into an apartment made me stop playing it just because I lost interest and sold all my electric stuff. Kept my steel and nylon string accoustics since they were both family gifts. My daughter likes listening to me play on occasion so I'm planning on picking up a Harley Benton 7 string for Christmas or my birthday this year. I've been listening to more 7 string stuff and kind of want to play it. Now that I have a proper computer I can plug into that and play through headphones instead of playing a loud *** accoustic.

Look at pictures with dots on strings.

Put fingers where dots are.

Curse if necessary, depending on chord complexity and muscle tone.

Repeat.

Try to change chord, move, slide, etc.

Repeat cursing if necessary.

Shake cramp out of hand if necessary.

Im having a bear of a time keeping my manly sized fingers off of the surrounding strings

Hows this for crazy?
Remember i finally broke down and bought and me an actual lefthanded guitar and started to learn

Printed off a chord sheet, studied it and just didnt make sense to me

I even drew a line on the sheet to see which string is the chunker one, and which one is the anorexic one

Still didnt make sense to me...then i thought to look up lefthanded chords



At least now it makes sense...but i still cant play it
 
Computer app (like paint) "flip" should be good for that to do whole songs if necessary.

Sometime around '84-'85, Lynch was considered "the best guitarist in the world" despite powerhouses known by three letter initials being active in the same era ie- EVH and SRV.

I first saw George with Dokken at the Danville civic center around that time. They opened up for Donald Roeser another under rated topflight guitarist. We went and saw them with the original Lynch Mob band a few years after that. They were touring with Steeheart. Every time they came top Illinois to the Arcada we would go watch the band. They were quite good live and Oni Logan was a powerhouse singer for a guy that was pretty short. My favorite show was when they had Michael Angelo Batio as their guest at Tailgaters in Bolingbrook. Another vastly under rated shredder.
 
I don't play but I seem to be a "gear head". Check out this little Tube amp. Around $150.

 
I busted up my left hand pretty good in the early 90's racing motorcycles and quit playing. Sold off most all the gear because of the issues with my hand. Decided about 3-5 months ago to start noodling. I have a 77 les paul custom that weigh 5 tons. I wasn't real comfortable lugging it out to play plus if I mess that up, I'd be mad at myself.

A friend bought one of the cheap guitars off amazon as a starter piece, hated it and gave up. I bought it off him and the set up was HORRIBLE. 3rd fret on high e had the same note as the 6th fret. Fret height all over the place, string action 10 miles from the board, others like high e very close. No wonder my friend hated the thing. I offered to fix it, nope, get it gone. LOL Got some tools, set it up, tuned it and it's solid. It plays damn good. If I have a careless brainfart messing around, drop it, whatever, it's a $100 investment. I'm sure my neighbors are thrilled... I think a cat was crying the other day when I was messing around. :)

Love you tube with lessons for songs and exercises. Online metronome, big plus! It's a break from the rest of the BS going on and relaxing.

That guy has a great EVH "feel".
 
I like that guy. Not a huge ego either.
Seems like most guys that can play anywhere close to VH and in that style, have an ego bigger than Eddie.
 
I've posted links to this guy before, but I just found this relatively new one...

...and it's GREAT.

Scholz is one of the hardest guys to emulate and even though Mike doesn't quite get the tone despite using a Scholz "Rockman", he does get the techniques and the riffs down almost 100%.

I'll be trying some of that stuff REAL SOON.

 
I begrudgingly sold my Gibson LP gold top to help fund some plans for my Dart.. I’ve been guitarless for about a week now and I’m starting to get separation anxiety…. Damnit lol

He's absolutely right that eventually it just feels natural and you can go almost anywhere with it.



Unfortunately unless you're a huge Rolling Stones fan, there's not a ton of hard rock songs in G major.
After a cursory google, Cracker's "Teen Angst" (what the world needs now [...is a V8 engine]) is the only one I know.
...but it absolutely fits the bill about being easy to run the lead solos for, and the rhythm part feels very natural despite me having kind of a rough start figuring out it was in G the first time I tried to play it.
 
Here is a not well known awesome guitarist. And what a beautiful axe he rips on!The Theta pre amp is top shelf.
