Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

-
I picked this air cleaner up along the way. Just picked it up from the soda blaster today. It was suggested that the stock air cleaner on a 74 Duster 360 looked something like this without the rounded adapter at the end of the snorkel. I want a stock style air cleaner, but I have no intention of using any of the vacuum stuff or the warm manifold air inlet. I know a great tin knocker who can modify the snorkel to my liking.
Wondering if anyone knows what the 360 air cleaner housing looked like on a 74?

So the 74 4 Barrel air cleaner looks like this. I have decided to give the one I have pictured above a face lift to resemble it more closely. Cosmetic surgery to be performed by H&L Sheet metal in Eatontown, NJ

Here is a 72 trap door, I can take an measurements if needed.
I think it will be an easy mod to the air cleaner you have, move the vacuum port on top back and shorten the snout.
The hardest thing will be making the 74 style flange end.

And old cars are great present hiding places.

Merry Christmas Shawn!
The tin knocker is amazing, he can recreate the look without a doubt. If ye need measurements I'll PM you thanks!

Hey! If it would help, I've got a couple of orange air cleaners with the round bell end on them. I am saving them for my air cloner project, and do not need the snorkles or vacuum thingies. If it would make it easier on you, I will be glad to send them to you. O:)

Not a great photo, but here is my re-covered dash pad just picked up from Ace auto upholstery in Red Bank, NJ. John the owner is a true craftsman and a nice guy too.
Now I'm thinking I'll have him do my front seat....
Feels like I gave myself a Christmas present!

Dont know what I got yet...Everyone is still sleeping here. No little ones and my daughter sang at Midnight mass...

Merry Christmas!

Boy that dash looks good! It's going to look even nicer behind that tuff wheel!

Merry Christmas Bob! All the best to you and your family.

Thanks Keith and Al. Merry Christmas to both of you and your families.
Al a special thanks to you for your time and interest in my project. Your style suggestions were good ones! The car is going to be unique yet a solid example of these wonderful A-Body Mopars.

Dash looks great! The dash pad decision was a good one, you will not have to mess with that sucker for the life of the car. Merry Christmas.

So I asked Wheel Vintiques if I could get a pair of cop style wheels from them that were 15 x 8 with a 3-1/2" backspace. That would fill my rear wheel well very nicely plus give me a comfortable 3/4" between the bulge of the tire and the leaf springs.
They are going to call me back.....

So the answer should not have required a call back. They will make any rim to your measurements....I just did it and they are on the Swinger.

I never got to talk to a human, just a voice mail......And it was during regular office hours in their time zone.
