Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

I was out rumbling around on Saturday. I stopped by the detail place that will Claybar and hand wax the car including the glass and do all the detail cleaning I suck at.
lots of garage grime and over spray from this and that on the old girl. Had to snap a few pics while I was waiting to set up the detail appointment.
Still waiting on stainless pump to carb line from Summit Racing. The Vibrant Performace line I used is nice but the fuel pressure gauge I have in the center of the run leaks when the motor is hot. Looks like it comes from the body of the gauge not the threads. Im going with a single line from OEM style fuel filter to Edlebrock barbed inlet. Old School :D

How much are they charging for the detail? I've always wondered about those places.

They are charging $150. They will clay bar the whole car including outside and inside of the glass. Then my choice of hand applied wax. Thinking about going with Mother’s....

Simple Mr Gasket braided pump to carb fuel line. It gets the gas to where it’s going with a hose clamp on each end. Simple and clean.

Use the factory fender holder for the hoses.
A lot easier to service the valve covers if needed.

Nice! You got the sweetest econo paint job
$3500 out the door including stripe kit install. Epoxy primer. Build primer and blocking. PPG Omni base and plenty of clear.
The guys who worked on my car cared about what they were doing. The guy who blocked the car was in love with it.
They do almost all collision and it was a treat for them to do a whole old car.
Paint is 4+ years old now. Just had it clay barred and waxed. Could cut and buff her if I wanted I guess but she looks outstanding. This $3500 paint looks like it cost 3 times as much.

So I have an aftermarket radiator and the holes for the fan shroud line up perfectly. My car was radiator-less when I got it so I don’t have the hardware for the shroud. But it looks and feels like some short self threading 1/4-20s will do the trick without trying to get some small tin nuts to work. Not self drilling but self threading. The bolt will safely pass outside of the frame of the radiator.

Post a pic of what you have, I would think self-tapping screws would work, or just up the hole size, and buy some floating barrel "u" nuts from NAPA and bolt it on with regular bolts.

U nuts would need to be long. A clip on stud would work too

A "U" nut is the same style that holds the fenders on your car.

Drill the radiator out to 1/4" and buy "u" nuts from NAPA for $5 a pack.
I just bought the nuts last week "trying" to fit a factory shroud on a aluminum radiator.
The bolt holes aligned, but the shroud was too big to clear the radiator necks.
I could trim the factory shroud, but it would be easier to find a correct brass radiator.

Cleaned and painted an overflow bottle satin white so it will appear similar in color to the washer tank. If I don’t like it once it’s in the car I’ll repaint it black.
