That's really a cool story. So many of us wish we still had some of the cars we, or our parents drove.
Enjoy!

Not true without pics! Finally got car to the body shop today.the long process begins.....interesting in looking at the original v24 where they masked off, and where you can actually see black overspray where the fender bolts on at the top. Definitely not touching that 48 year of over spray!
This is an incredible car with a heartwarming back story...amazing stuff. Congratulations on reclaiming a piece of family history!!
Can I ask a totally honest question here? Please don't take this as a criticism of the car.
Were the rear quarters rusty? What could have caused this? I had always assumed that exposure to the elements (especially winter road treatments) were the culprit.
For the record, it wouldn't matter if this car was a rusted hulk. IMO, it would be worth any amount of investment of time and energy.
I hope you are not restoring it. I would just blend the paint were the primer spots are and fix the engine bay holes and blend the paint there also. This is way to cool to restore. Finally got car to the body shop today.the long process begins.....interesting in looking at the original v24 where they masked off, and where you can actually see black overspray where the fender bolts on at the top.
