What would you pay 5K for? We gotta 73 or 74 Dart sport here that is very solid and was a one owner car. Factory 318, auto, disk brakes on the front bbp all around with 7.25 from the factory. The 318 in it runs good, but We're gonna swap in a nice rebuilt 360 with shorty headers, strong rebuilt 904 and swap in a 8.25. Rodney says he'll take 5K for the car when we're done. The car's interior is real nice and the body is very solid.

There is nothing around here for anything resembling a fair price. The last 2 cars I looked at were a rotted Super Bee for 8K and a rotted 73 Duster 340 for $3500. There is no such thing as a driver in this area for under $5000. $5000 is out of my range for a car that is going to need a ton of work.

I could buy something from the south r the west and have it shipped here for another $1500 but after the last car I bought site unseen that was described to me as mostly solid Im not dieing to put my trust in someone elses description.

a gallon of TCPs 2K primer is $100, A gallon kit of there generic Sublime green is $135 enamel. Enamel is junk. You still need masking tape, masking paper, sandpaper, tac rags, wax and grease remover and thats assuming your car needs no body work and you own a compressor and a gun. I buy lots from TCP, Good prices but even so Im getting ready to do a car for another member and I've bough about $800 worth of supplies from TCP and have no primer or color yet.

^^ I was /only/ quoting the price on buying paint, and primer. And For urethane paint and primer from them, it's only supposed to cost me 250 counting shipping.

DartSports are actually my favorite a body lately. Its gonna be awhile till I can buy anything though. To many irons in the fire right now.

That's a shame. The paint is still good on this car. I think it would buff out like new. Brown with like a tannish yellow interior. It's really kinda cool...and I despise beak cars.

I paid $75 is shipping alone on my last order. There is so much more to a paint job then just a gallon of paint and primer.

Sounds like its GY9 Gold with the the light Gold interior like my old Scamp. Cool color combo.

Its a shame that I wont have the extra money for a car but I'll have another daughter so its all good. I'll just have to see how the Spring works out for me. Im just starting year 2 of being self employed.

If you think there's any way you might get it, I'll be glad to get you some pics.

I most likely wont be able to swing a 5K car plus shipping till the end of summer if that. No sense in getting any ones hopes up I guess.

I tried to get him to sell it as is, but he won't do it. It runs and drives and all right now. The A/C still even blows cold.

Hey SS;I just found a 74 Dart-4 door, not much rust /6 auto 7.25, no frill car if you need some parts

I already offered him $900.00 for the grille and six for the quarter. and would go higher. I would take the whole car but can't make the trip for the car until the end of April. I will pay his price but not to part out. To take what I need and sell.

i will never pay over 2500 for a beautiful rust free body regardless if it is a 6 cylinder car. period. end of story. i never have and i never will. be ready to overpay if you are not patient and wait for the right car to come along. right now , the deal of the day , is the 72 340 4 speed duster with the NOS sharks tooth grill and quarters ready to go for 5500. a flippers dream car. not only can i see this car hitting eghey for 8k , you will be able to pocket the grill.

You're right.
This IS an affordable hobby, the A-body thing.
Check out the prices of E bodies and think about it guys......
We've got it good.

Yeah, good point. I like A-bodies best anyway, always have, but I like B Bodies too, but can't afford them anymore. And E? Forget it. Hey, FMJ are still more affordable than A's.

this is the best deal i have seen here in a long time. i cant believe its still up for grabs. 95% complete car in pieces. PLUS bonus parts. and a #matching 340. AND a trim tag to boot

In what you said before ($2000 paint job) there's really a whole lot more you're not considering. Plus, by this comment, you're clearly looking at using very cheap materials, not truly quality stuff. Like a Maaco paint job, not that there isn't a place for cheap paint jobs. And I'm not sure why you think 2-stage systems are just for show cars. At any rate, you'd be real hard pressed to pay just $2000 to paint a car in materials alone, even one that needs no bodywork whatsoever (show me that car!) with anything resembling quality product that will last. There's a TON of labor and materials involved even in a "simple" paint job, if you're going to do it right and have it last.

But, I don't think this has anything whatever to do with this topic, so I should have probably jsut left it alone.

This is the problem. The initial buy in is stupid high. No reason for it. Inflation has very little to do with mopar costs these days. It's mostly the " magic mopar inflation"(iditot who paid too much and wants it all back),greedy middle men who should probably go get an honest job,and parts hoarders who are holding out for 2006 prices that have caused it.

It's a very decent car, and he can try to get what he can for it. May or may not get it- my guess is "Not." For that kind of money I can get a very decent '67 Dart GT, V-8, convert, a nice paint job (it's faded abit), and some other goodies done on it. And it is clean...

Exactly. I found a project car that I was real interested. non # 340 Dart Sport. Needs a full resto but its 98% rust free, very complete (all the hard to find stuff is there) and its local but the $4500 buy in is just to much for me for a car that I cant drive till I go through it all.

get a 4 door? theere still cheap

a 4 door is not a muscle car. I drive a 4 door every day. May as well hop up the wifes mini van.

Well, that's just stupid. There isn't a '75 Dart in the world, let alone a /6 one, that's worth $10,000. That will never sell, I don't even need a pic to see that. The guy will own it forever.

The rusty 340 car with the solid shell included... they're basically telling you to swap vins... great. If it was everything there, but the solid car was the actual 340 car, I'd say that wasn't a bad price, or a bad starting price at all.

There's got to be better cars out there for less. Heck, there's always cars out in PA etc advertised right here on FABO that seem like good deals to me, if only they were closer to me.

Actually not a bad plan. You can make stuuuupid power with any motor/turbo these days. I've often thought the mini van could be a real head turner with about 400 h.p or so. Sure would surprize a lot of folks.

But your right. It's not a muscle car. Nothing with 4 dooors is.

Both those cars have been on and off of Craigslist for months.

Yeah, obviously, and unless they drop the price a ton, they'll be on for months more.

There's about a '74 or so 4-door Dart 318 that's listed on CL here all the time, for maybe 6 months or more. It's dark brown, an SE package, with the brown painted wheel covers that look sort of like old Mercedes wheel covers. It's a very very nice car, looks like it's in fantastic shape. I can't remember what he started out at, but I think it was around $4k. Ridiculous. Kept dropping the price, and I think last time I noticed, I think it was around $2k. Which was still probably too high. Maybe it sold, maybe he had to drop it more, but the point is, a lot of people ask stupid prices for things, and if they want to sell, the fact is, the price has to come down. I would have liked to have had that 4-door Dart as a daily driver, but I wasn't even going to bother calling at the asking price. For about $800-$1000, it would have started to have become appealing.
