Found my dads original 1971 duster!

Thank you!
Wow, that’s awesome! How do I find the story of it etc? I can’t figure it out. Not sure what down by signature means. Thanks!
Right below my reply there is a purpleish colored line saying New Member Introduction - 1971 GSS Demon That is a link to my introduction and story

Every engine has a cam (at least in the realm of stuff we’re interested in) and upgrading a cam during an engine rebuild is common. The lunati “cam kit” he ordered and installed is a cam and lifter set (you don’t reuse lifters on new cams so they sell em as kits) and is a well know street grind cam from a reputable company. It’ll sound good, make good usable power, and not be so rowdy that it’ll eat valve springs or require a ton of maintenance.
That’s awesome! Nobody that I know has been able to really explain it to me. I’m a home builder and have a passion for cars, but I don’t know much about engines etc. That was very very helpful! Thanks :)

Yep! I did have the turn my phone sideways. Thanks to TT5 for that advice!
WOW! What a cool story!! So amazing that you and your dad could experience that together! That’s the one thing I wish was different about my story. But I’m still beyond thankful to have found the car! I read half of your thread. Heading back there now, to hopefully find out if you got your engine block back…and see the status of your build. Thanks again

Very nice car and great story. Welcome from WI. In 2018 I found my Dad's 1971 GSS Demon from when I was a child. It is a great feeling to have it. My story is down in my signature. Congrats. Car looks great.
Just finished reading your thread! Congrats man, I can’t imagine how excited you and your father were to be back in that car together. Amazing car and amazing story!

Once a year a cool story like this will pop up. Last year it was @Scott_ 69HemiDart inheriting his FIL's '69 Hemi Dart. This year is your year and I am looking forward to following along on your build.

Here are the 2 pictures I found in my dads house of the car. The 3rd one is a picture that the hydro guy who I bought it from tool when he bought it. He gave it to me when I picked up the car. It was sad. He was ashamed that he let it sit and degrade as much as it did over time

Sharp looking ride back in the day, and I have no doubt that it will look as good or better when you are done.

A few more interesting photos. Lol. So I remember my dad sideswiping a tree when I was younger and caving the passenger side door in. When I picked up the car, it had a brown door on it. I asked the hydro guy if he put it on there and he said that he didn’t. So the lady who bought it from my dad must have put it on, in hopes of putting it back on the road some day
Then when I drilled the trunk latch open….to my surprise what was sitting in the trunk….the caved in door. Lol.
Also, if you’ll notice, there is an air horn under the hood. Lol. I don’t remember that as a kid, but I put my air compressor to it and it worked like a charm….and loud

Glad to see you got the car back in the family and it’s looking good as it’s brought back to life!

From a code of conduct view, there were a couple of questionable items within the story (not done by you but by others)……

Thanks. Much appreciated

You can't post too many photos!!! We are a visual bunch and love seeing classic Mopars!!!

Here are some pics of us finding the matching numbers on the car :))
Too bad the mice got to the build sheet before us. It would have been cool to have it

So far great job on the history!! Love it
Like to share the one I’m working on.
But I won’t this is your legacy
God bless and cherish what you have when things are meant to be…
Your Dad was with you the whole time. Be blessed

Thanks so much! Means a lot :)
No worries there. I’d love to see it

Here are some boring pictures. But I like that the builder is trying to make it look as original as possible, with all the reproduction decals

A few more pictures :). This is the stage it’s at right now. Being wet sanded and polished. Front end isn’t fully connected, he says. That’s why front wheel looks to be sitting back a bit
