Might be a stupid question but where do you guys mount the fuel pump? Are you runnin' a filter between tank and pump. Pump should be very low and next to the tank but I don't see any good location away from the exhaust and the axle. Any hint is helpfull before I drill too much holes in the car.... :)

I put mine on the front side of the leaf spring hanger on the passenger side. There's a little sort of box where the rear frame rail meets up with some structure that comes from the body (at least on my 67). The stock fuel line runs right near there and it was about the only place lower than the tank I could find that was fairly well protected from stuff. You could always make a little rock shield or something to cover it too. I can try to get some pictures up.

i ran ,i believe it was a holley blue on my 66 charger 440
i mounted it to the rear "frame rail" just in front of the leaf spring perch
it was on the outside for access and i put it on that side so there was less wiring it got a little beat up but worked like a champ.of course the charger was a little beefier there so it was easy to mount it hi enough that the bottom was almost flush with the rail.
also with tall 15" tires and beefed up springs it sat fairly hi in general
never lost a pump or a filter that i can think of.
i ran one the small glass filters between the tank and the pump and a regular filter before the pressure reg.
you just have to remember to check/clean the glass filter regularly
since it's outa site and small
get some of those small loop type hose clamps like for heater hoses so you can put holes where necessary and screw the clamps into place to keep the hose tight against the car and in place

I thought about this box but my Carter pump with its fittings is slightly too big it seems. Will see tomorrow. Maybe I can make it there with a bit cutting the box....

I think about a "one way" plastic filter between the pump and tank

I managed to mount a Holley gear rotor pump in that spot okay, but beware, the thing was so damn noisy I couldn't stand it and sent it back. I may have been able to lessen the problem with some rubber isolater mounts, but I could hear the pump over open headers, so I went with a little parts store generic solenoid style pump. That's why I'm holding out for a custom fuel tank with internal pump if I ever go to injected.
