SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Hunters in the Mountain State harvested more than 40,000 antlered deer during buck firearm season in 2024.

According to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the preliminary data total for the two-week buck firearm season was 41,090 antlered deer harvested, which they say is a little below the five-year average of 43,143 antlered deer harvested. The WVDNR collected their data through the electronic game check system.

No idea how many Deer we harvested this season but my dynamic duo has been tuff on the squirrels! The Mal is just so quick, she kills and the Shepard eats! Hah

Nice work. What are you using to stipple the top of the slide?
A dull, used up 20 lpi checkering file. It is a soft stipple. Enough to kill glare but to me, not enough for grip like many used to do High Power front straps. And yes, the file will break as you hammer on it, so only use the end half inch at a time. After tri topping and chamfering the slide, it just needed “something”…

That checkering in the pic is only about half done. Has to be cut to full depth to bring the points out.

I keep saying “no more hand cut checkering!” But here I am. And I have not fixtured up to machine cut it since nowadays everyone makes guns and stripped frames already checkered.
