Has anyone ever seen a Lada in the USA?

Had a lada here in my yard a few years ago. Guy gave it to me. I loaded it full of scrap and hauled it.

i have a home built mini tractor, powered by a 1959 skoda 445 powertrain. It has three times the horsepower of my little kubota.

I had a Lada in yard last week, used it to clean out the gutters!!!:poke:

Good luck, make sure your insurance is payed up.

Dude, the name Yugo doesn’t give a hint as to where it was built?

back in the early 80s my high school friend Kirk and I worked at the local Ford dealer. They also sold Yugos. We had one with a bad engine. We were trying to get it from Ford for a song, because the customer made Ford buy it back through arbitration. We were going to put a 5.0 and a T5 in it. But alas, it was not to be. They wouldn't sell it to us. lol

Every year (except this one) there is a Greenwood car show north of Seattle center. There is a car club that does nothing but Russian cars and they show up with 10-15 cars every year and some of them are always Ladas! I'll try to dig up some photos

That's too bad, I'da made you an offer on it. If I can find a decent one I'm in the market. I like the square headlight ones the most.

Round headlights.one i had was similar. If it was a niva i would still have it.

I put a souped up 350 in a Vega ,...I'm pretty sure I can put a V6 in Fiat!!!!. I'll do the same thing I did with the Vega, don't tell the insurance company that I replaced the engine. My insurance was cheap!
I remember those days. When I worked at a Buick dealer in 1979, the dealer used a local named Bruce the Brush. Phenomenal free hand pinstriping. He had a 427 vega. We all wanted it.

Are you on Lada Life group on Facebook? Lots of of really nice ones on there.
I see them for sale around Winnipeg once and a while as there was a dealer that sold them here...

I avoid Facebook but knowing there is a lada group might make it worth activating.

It seems I might have luck in Canada but probably not here in the states

YUGO in the Slavic language translates to "garbage"
Finding an original Yugo from the 80s that runs would Be amazingly awesome. I have seen a few but never anything decent to service and take care of. Those are bringing good money for a very nice original these days.

Wait up, aren't those built with some sort of cardboard? No kidding......Fiat 124 copy. Maybe the cardboard was a different piece of Euro trash. It was an East German car called "Trabant". It says these Ladas are pretty robust and can be worked on with a can opener, just like a russian tank.

Ya those things were two stroke.

Now I'm going to have to watch the old Top Gear episode where they focus on the Lada. Home in an two hours!

Okay, as usual this thread has gone off the rails, a Yugo is not a Lada, anymore than MOPAR is a Chevy. Upon further review, the car in question is a four door, witch makes it a FIAT 132 knock off.

Oh jeez, I just realized how long ago the 80’s were. But Quebec does not salt, so that may be a good place to start. Members LeBlanc could be helpful.

Huh? Since when did Quebec stop using salt on the roads?

This story must be fake news:
Jonathan Kay: Why is Montreal's Champlain Bridge, built within living memory, already on its last legs? | National Post

Add to that the acid rain which is brutal in Ontario and Quebec near the US border, and not many cars last beyond 10 or 15 years without a lot of effort and care.
