In the past, I have always preferred summer because everything I like to do is outside. Working on cars, bodywork, rust repair, painting, yard work, etc. I never had a problem with the heat. The last few summers, I have gotten more susceptible to the heat. For the first time in years, I am actually looking forward to winter so I can slow down a little bit. I am 74, and I have had something to do every single day for the last two or three months. It is time for me to slow down at least a little. I usually take on a winter project like badly rusted doors, badly rusted tailgate, or something like that. I can do that in my heated garage no problem. But I spread it out over a long period of time. I just gotten to the point where I don’t like being out in the heat. I might air condition my garage for next summer. Also, I might mention that we have an RV and haven’t gone anywhere in two years. That’s because I take on so many projects and obligations and help so many people with so many things that I don’t have any time to myself. That ends in 2025. I have to learn how to say, “No” sometimes when people ask for help.

Winter sucks ***.
The cold, the short daylight hours, the overcast skies, the rain or snow....It all sucks.
In the Summer, you have ALL day to do things. Sure, the heat can be taxing but you can take breaks from it. From inside the house, you can look through the windows and see sunny skies, a huge difference from gloomy cloud cover.
Cold hands where every slip of a wrench hurts worse than ever.
Wet and cold car parts that sit outside.
Cold shop floor, sucking the heat from your feet when walking on it and your body when laying on it.
Paint dries too slow. Bodywork and filler takes longer.
I don't like being soaked in sweat but if you plan your work around the day to be out there away from peak heat times, it is always better than Winter.

Growing up in Colorado I thought I would never say I was looking forward to Winter but since moving to Arizona 13 years ago I now do. Especially this year with record days over 100 and even 110 .It's 80 here at 9:30 am and it feels really good.

Heat never bothered me, until 9 years ago, I got bad sick, and the Dr gave me a medicine that I was allergic to.
Skin peeled off my arms, it was nasty.
Now if I am in the sun much, I break out in hives.
Today I quit around 1:00 and came in the cool house, I can finish up later this evening.

I always liked doing body-work in the winter, where I can control the temperature in the garage.

Definitely looking forward to cooler, drier air! I ran my car Friday night @2700 ft DA, 88% humidity.

The best times in S E Texas, after threat of hurricanes, is Oct to May. Or at least till April!!

I sweated so bad other day, doing nothing but standing outside in the shade, talking to a guy...the sweat ran down my face into my right ear, and shorted out that hearing aid and burnt the fuzz on top of my pumpkin head!!!! Really!!
East Tx is hotter but less humidy and has some wind!!
West Coast pilgrims, beware... all of Texas is FULL except Austin!!!

Trying to get out of AZ and go to South Dakota….. summer is way overrated. 106 here today. I’m so done with this…..

Yet you live in Arizona. Is anyone actually surprised to find the weather HOT in Arizona?

It's a dry heat.......try some East Coast heat and humidity. By the way I hate winter.

150 degree ground temps is what kills the unsuspecting over the 120 ambient. Sun goes down and the heat radiates from the ground. It’s a vicious cycle for months. Then monsoon season arrives and provides enough humidity where the swamp coolers become non effective which makes working in a shop fun. Our particular area has treated us well though. Decent wages for the area, low cost of living for a long time. It’s just time for a change. Wife retired four weeks ago (53). I’ll prob have to put a few more years in.
