Our state is not 40% sales tax, LOL. Egag is making a HELL of a lot of money off all of us on this over-priced nonsense.

I bought a torque converter off ebay...i emailed the seller and bought it off ebay without any taxes....it was a private citizen that ebay had added tax to his sale. Bullshit

The states were loosing millions in tax revenue yearly because of all the internet sales. It's about time! My wife is the CFO of our city. It's just a $150 million dollar budget but it's a ***** to manage the money to pay the police and firefighters to protect the city. Now with Covid going on she will have to dip into the fund balance to provide safety services then she doesn't have any operating capital. We would be a damn poor country if everybody sidestepped paying taxes. If you want to be like Mexico just keep cheating. We'll be there soon enough.

I dont mind paying sales tax for a brand new item from the store...or manufacturer...but paying sales tax for a private sale between two people is BS....the person who bought the item went it was brand new paid the sales tax for it....ONCE is enough....

Nobody said a word about sidestepping taxes. I'm talking about RAPING people that is way too much in egag's computerized nonsense. And much of what I buy through egag is new, like outboard service parts, I don't mind paying IF it is actually going to my state

I don't think you "get it." If I walk into a local store and they try and overcharge on sales tax, that is ILLEGAL
Well, if you think they are doing something illegal...report them to the appropriate authorities.

If you don’t...who will?

It’s not like the tax authorities are out hunting for them.

40% is what you got charged? Really? Yes, there is something wrong there. Probably 4% and someone added a zero.

this was a private party sale with eBay as the middle man. it was reasonable I thought.

Oh I "get it." You asked if there's anything that be done, and I answered. Sure there is. Either report them to the appropriate authorities; don't use their service; use their service and pay 40% 'sales tax' and accept it; or complain about it on a car forum. The choice is yours.

The problem is, we've all sat idly by as we are taxed into oblivion. The IRS is not even supported by the Constitution. We're taxed so much and on so many things, we can't keep track of it. I wonder how many "double dip" taxes we actually have? Triple dip? More? Who the hell knows anymore because we all just sit back and let it happen.

Well "who" would that be, exactly? Home state AG? Egag? The state from which it originated? None of these people are ever easy to contact, or reliably expect feedback

G-dammit don't you touch that tax money! I need that to fund my EBT card!

Don't make me hop in my Escalade and come over there!

Texas tried getting after swap meeters a few years back about not collecting tax on used parts sold by individuals to other individuals. They found out that it was going to be very tough to enforce & it went away. I do not mind paying taxes on new merchandise, but once it's been sold as new, it's now a used piece. RRR is correct, we have sat back & let the government tax us to oblivion & not done anything about it. In other words, they have their foot on or neck & won't let us up. It will probably never happen, but there needs to be a tax revolt.

We pay taxes on a new vehical. Then everytime it sold there after if it’s over $3000.00. That could be 10 x in its lifetime. Kim
