Is this radiator a good deal?

I'm looking at the core dimensions listed "Core Size (in) approx: ALUM 18 x 25-3/8 x 1-1/4, 2 ROW"

1.25" thick? Those must be very small tubes. 1.25/ 2 = 0.625" I don't know much about rads but I'm sure there's some space between the tubes. So are the tubes only 1/2"? Maybe that's why it's so cheap? Again I do not know. :dontknow:

From what I have read (I haven't bought an aluminum rad yet) if you're making any kind of power you will want to have a 2 row with 1" tubes.

Here you go purple haze, sorry it took so long. Sorry i have a life and didnt have time to post these pictures for you. But why dont you keep your comments till you know what the result is. I really appreciate the input you have on some of my questions but y dont you relax. Thanks.

Crud...sorry for not posting but I have not had time to install it since I got it until last weekend.
Okay...the good..it holds water and keeps every thing cool so I guess that it was worth the money.
The bad is that the holes in it do not match the stock holes in my dart so there was just a little drilling to get it to mount up but not too bad. Over all I would say just for day to day use it is a good deal. Like I said though I have only had it installed for a week now and have put maybe 150 miles on my car since then...if anything goes south with it I will update...

Looks as thick as a stocker but much wider. That has cool as well as a factory 26" radiator. Plenty for me, I think that's what I will get. Thanks guys.

Your welcome on the pics...and I have put many miles on the radiator and have not had any problems at all so I am glad I bought it.

I wish I had the time and money to eat, sleep and breath MOPAR but I have a job that steals a lot of my time, I also have a 16 year old daughter that takes a lot of my time and money that I give with a smile and I have two ex-wives that just want my money. In a couple of years I plan on being out of debt and be making a lot more money and THEN I can do every thing I dream of doing to my car, Till then I will just live life and do what I can...from what I can see this is just like most of the people here...we have a love for the cars we own or want but only have so much time and money to play with.

Does that radiator have shroud mounts on it? It looks like it does but can't tell for sure, but I use them to mount my e-fan so that would be great.

I have come to the conclusion that going to a 3 core copper fan is doing more harm than good, partly because I think it was sub-quality work and cores used. I figure if I'm going to replace it, I might as well go aluminum.
 
I know it's a little late to say anything now but that's a downflow not a crossflow radiator. The crossflows are suppose to be better I guess. And that will not do without any shroud or fans. Better go with fans(2) and shroud.

As they say...the proof will be in the puddin'. When one of these guys gets stuck in traffic on a 90 degree day for 1/2hr or better and it stays cool or heats up...but for the $ it's probably not a bad buy, even if it's a downflow. I'm sure w/ a stock smallblock it's fine...
 
Man, the comments on not using the highest quality parts out there is getting a bit tired around here. Not everybody can afford to go unlimited budget on these cars. Many of us just want something that works for a fair price. Think bang for your buck. Sure I might be able to afford a $400 radiator but not that and a $1000 converter, $4500 stroker with trick heads, $1500 8 3/4, $1700 tti exhaust, Tubular control arms, etc, etc.

Besides if I'm sitting in traffic for a half hour in 90 degrees, I'm not happy weather or not the car is overheating! Then again that's why I live in Montana and not LA! LOL!
 
Were the stock radiators crossflow? my stock radiator never overheated so i just thought this could be nothing but a upgrade. At the least i can always put on the old on in case of overheating. I just need to get my gauges working now to see how hot she runs.
 
How come when I go to the link they all are for a /6 engine and no v8s
Did you get a different one?
 
If you look at the later model darts on the site there is the v8 radiators. I dont know why they dont have them for 69 or 68's. I have a 74. Look there
 
this is pretty cool. I'm thinking of getting one of these radiators for my 68 cuda build...I will only have a 318, so I don't think I need anything too radical...
 
I am in total agreement with hersbird what's with the top shelf stuff. If the quality is good and it will do the same job why would you want to go with the high dollar name brand stuff. If you want to "keep up with the Jones" and spend your money just so you can say you have "X" brand then go for it. I have been able to spend 40 percent less on the build of my car because I didn't have this thing about having the "best" item. FYI I can afford top shelf but I will spend what I saved by careful shopping and spend it on a second project.
Just because it cost more doesn't mean it is the best.
 
I just bought a Champion radiator from a guy off of Moparts and it looks identical to the ones pictured but it's a 3 core. It has all the factory mounts i.e. shroud mounting holes.

To the response about not buying top dollar stuff I agree. If you can get something just as good but don't have to pay for the name why not do it. Last year I put a universal Griffin radiator in my Pop's Rambler and this Champion looks to be just as good quality but the nice thing is it's a direct bolt in. Hope to get it in next week and see how it does.
 
This thing is a piece of garbage!! As soon as I set it down on the garage floor and looked down from the top I noticed it's twisted. When layed on a perfectly flat garage floor one corner is up 1/4". That's not all though. The mounting holes on one side line up but the other doesn't. If you try to align their holes to the original holes it places the radiator in there cockeyed. Plus the radiator shroud doesn't even come close to fitting like they say it will. The core is a full inch shorter than the original so the stock shroud is too tall. I see on the box it's made in China. Might have guessed it would be junk.

1st picture shows a top view of how it's twisted

2nd picture shows how it's way smaller than a stock A-body 22" shroud

3rd picture shows how cockeyed it is if you use their mounting holes

4th picture shows the gap at the top left corner when the other 3 bolts are tight and no my core support is not bent. It's straight as an arrow. Car has never been wrecked.
