Just downloaded windows 10

Good luck with that. I refuse to use microshaft for any reason unless forced to kicking and screaming. I don't use "Mac" either

I've been running it for a few days now, and I haven't had any issues. It took a little longer than advertised when it was installing to come up, but once it did it was all cool. The biggest thing I've noticed so far is that on my laptop where I installed it I used to be able to run one finger up and down the right edge of the touch pad and my screen would scroll up and down. Now, I have to use two fingers in the middle of the touchpad.

If this is the only problem I have with Windows 10, I can handle it.

Still have windows 7

So what is the advantage of 10 suppose to be? Other than they will support it for several years and all the others will not be supported

One huge issue I have heard is that evidently it's set up for mandatory implementation of "updates" and has crashed some machines, video drivers, etc.

Not only that but they are also implementing a "Microsoft certified hardware only" policy soon because they blamed a lot of Win failures on third party software and hardware.
Which is probably the case, but lord forbid they make their OS so it won't run anything that could hurt it. (like Linux)
But that requires a crapload more development time from MS, as well as in depth collaboration between MS and other peripheral suppliers.

So....
It ain't gonna happen

What they are going to do is to limit the available peripherals their OS will allow at all, so I'm thinking this is going to drive peripheral prices up and some of the cheaper stuff out completely.

I havent made the move yet.. I figured I would give it a couple weeks and see if I have heard of any major issues.

The only problem I have had so far is with the Browser. It hangs up all the time, but if I switch back to Google Chrome I have no hang problems. Keep getting a error message that a display driver stops responding but only with the Explorer not the Chrome. I might add when it's not hanging it is pretty fast.

Explorer has had hangup problems for a long time now, but they do seem to be getting worse is they get into higher numbered versions.
Keeping the add on's clean as well as resetting Explorer seems to solve a lot of it's issue's temporarily, but who want's to do that all the time just to get the browser to work right?

True....Many don't like Chrome but it has given me the least amount of problems of any browser I've tried so I'll just run it. I don't do much on the computer much anyway except surf the web and edit pictures before I transfer them to disc.

I don't like chrome at all, but it might be the interaction with Linux

I have been waiting for my windows 10 to come available I submitted my email for the free upgrade like a month ago and nothing yet....unless I am not paying attention

Had it a couple of days now. Kinda faster, but there is a learning curve with a new OS. Trying to navigate thru it is a pain. I haven't taken the time to really look it over. I don't care anymore. If I need something, then I will look for it. But Microsoft don't care, it's pretty much a monopoly on OS. Apple has theirs, Linux, and then Microsoft for the rest. Not much choice is there?

Technically, this isn't Explorer anymore. They call it Edge, and as of right now they don't allow add ons. That functionality is supposed to be coming at a later date, but it's not here yet.

Different name, same problems.
Like a bad business reopening under a different name.

Don't they all, in one way or another?

my pc is a little slower than I like , due to all the advertisments poping up, seems to wait on them. this site is as bad as any. got a pop up saying windows 10 is available to me now, did I want to install it. put it off till later, maybe never !

Depending on which browser you use, you should look for an add-on or extension called AdBlock Plus. It blocks all (ok, MOST) of those ads that pop up. I don't know how I managed for so long without it! It works really well on Firefox and Chrome, but is mediocre at best on Internet Explorer.

I see where 10 shares the installation files with other computers over the internet USING YOUR bandwidth.
It works like the P2P file sharing programs that we warn people not to use, or at their own risk.
So even though you might not be doing anything at all on your computer it may be busy sharing installer files with other people so they can upgrade, and causing your internet to be slower or possibly even cost you more for your internet usage.

They did this to take the downloads stress off their own servers and put some of it on you.
The only upside is that it can be turned off in the Windows Update settings, but it is automatically "On" when the OS installs.

We'll call Windows 10 "The socialist OS" :D

I am downloading the ISO versions of 32 and 64 bit both, so I can make installation DVD's of them instead of the upgrade download.
Then I will use a secondary drive to install 10 on, so I can retain my 7 OS.
They say for a fresh (non upgrade) install you will need your Windows 7,8 or 8.1 serial number, so anyone that does not have it can download my serial number report tool.
It tells you your serial numbers for Windows as well as most other MS programs.

It's here www.letsgocomputers.com/programs/keyfinder.zip

t it is automatically "On" when the OS installs.

Nice, NOT!!

A more serious question...........do you know this so called "free upgrade" works? That is, does this disable being able to back to W7 if you so choose?
