"LA" engine?

-
I have read it from more than 1 Chrysler engineer.
LA = Lightened A

But what ever floats your boat.

Like I said, I was not arguing. I was merely saying "I" had not seen where Chrysler referred to it standing for anything.

Call it licked *** for all I care.

Come on guys is that all, I still have more drink to spit on my 'puter I'm laughing so hard!!!

Jeff

I'm goin directly to auto zone and asking for a set of plugs for a licked *** 318! This is funny stuff!

Louisiana...I had a 340-8..I never knew they made an 8 bbl 340! As long as we are calling out motor acronyms...
351-C (Cleveland assembly plant but later 2 more)
351-W (Windsor casting plant)
351-M (Modified destroked tall deck 400-M) taking me back to my pseudo Ford years...
LA was 'Light "A"' due to new at the time lightweight casting techniques
B was 350-400 large block design circa 1958
RB was Raised B block circa 1959
G motor was the slants (LG for Low and RG for Raised)
A was poly
SOHC...etc.

Make sure you order the "Hot Plug" set for the Licked *** engine. Some places will have custom colored plugs for the dress up happy crowd.

The licked *** small block is gonna go down in history. Oh wait. It already has.

a 318 is chryslers definition of light ?!!! id hate to see what the original A's weighed then because a bare 318 block weighs almost as much as a chebby 350 fully assembled does . i carried both up 2 flights of stairs in college so i know this one from hard earned experience

Popular Mechanics

Chrysler is introducing a new thin-wall casting engine block for the
upcoming Model Year. The engine will be designated the 'LA' engine.

This engine block is lighter than the current 'A' Block, which was introduced in 1956 by Chrysler, and called the 'Hy-Fire 277'.

The new designed thin-wall casting engine block will be 50 lbs. lighter than the
current 'A' engine block.

LOL @ Roger!

YEP! I agree. Unless someone else has jokes?

My cat licked his ***. Does that mean he's an LA?

Humm, no, but the cat MIGHT be in "LA"!

Zebra

Did record a song called "The La La Song"

They were from New Orleans, but were based in Long Island, New York.

I believe the song was about the 273 and 318, and the thin-wall casting.

That's true! Good band. Wife and I saw them.

Led Zep has LA LA LA LA's in a song or two...
"The Ocean" comes to mind.

Hmm, If we speculate on what "LA" in LA Women by the Doors means, it may shut this thread down in a hurry!:)

Now we're talking.

I saw Zebra at 'My Father's Place' in Rosyln, Long Island back in 1978..

The show was sponsored by WLIR {92.7}, who carried the show live.

Excellent 3-Piece Hard Rock Band.

My fathers place!!!!

What a great spot! Under the viaduct.
