HINT: if a clip won't hold the molding tight simply cut a piece of rubber and slide it in between the clip and the rubber gasket to put more pressure on it. Don't forget to seal the windshield/backglass as well because sure a **** it'll leak. You can get a tube of roofing tar and use a cartridge gun. Gonna get new molding clips mine are good but like you said not worth it.
Good idea tar the **** out of it because I'm not wanting to do this twice.

Don't go overboard with the sealer Fred but a nice bead between the body and the rubber and then run your screwdriver over it to get any air bubbles out. Don't forget to shoot some sealer between the body and the clip as the water can go right past and create a water leak. Also run a small bead between the glass and the rubber before you lock it down.
