Hey MMP ,Mark and CF hope your day is doing good. I'm up to my ears in solvent, paint and grease. Front end going together nicely New lower ball joints will be here tomorrow I hope and sitting on tires by Sunday...

Fred and bp got a question I think I know the answer but I gotta ask , when I cut the trunk extensions and trunk floor out of the car ,lower quarter panels how would you support everything so the rusty old girl doesn’t fold in half , the mini tubs are welded in not fully ground but solid enough I think ?

Not quite sure what all your doing there Biff but support the frame rails on stands to hold it in place and would think everything else should be fine. I would guess there is nothing on the car like rear end or bumper to cause weight.

Always nice to have a second opinion thanx off to buddy’s to cut **** out .

Ya thats a little bit of a loaded question. Keep the doors closed. That will keep it from folding in half. The main thing is that everything is screwed and clamped and all of the gaps are correct when you weld it. Sometimes I leave the gap on quarter to door gap a little wide on top to anticipate a change when all of the weight is back in it and the weight on the suspension. Kind of an educated guess. Support the rear (a little) to keep things from changing while you weld and crawl around in there with your body weight. I wish I was doing that instead of fighting paint match. Hope that helps.

This hits close to home. Our friend's employee. She was a good kid. It's sad how slathered we Montanans are in the consumption of alcohol. Kalispell teen killed after vehicle slams into home
Our tight knit community is really upset right now. You guys would be blown away with the support her family will get from this community.

Very sad my heart goes out to the family .
Yes Biff. I will keep you posted. Alcohol can be the devil. I'm sure deep down this 31 year old man is in deep remorse. I know people are going to wave the death penalty flag. But damn.

Yes the devil is right , I myself gave it up over 30 years ago . Wait what are you doing up at this hour?

Had a late night in the shop. And alcohol. And a little torn up from the news.

Yep me too, got the car set to tear the trunk out mabey tomorrow or Sunday.
If everything else is in tack, I would not worry too much about ripping the trunk out. Just support the rear a little bit. Is the rear end still in it?
