Lay down Sally...

Hello everyone!

Been a little bit since I updated. Haven't gotten the engine off to a shop yet. Just haven't had the time. Hopefully will on Monday or Tuesday. Work has been killing my outside life. But I did order new black carpet and a set of new kick panels with speakers already installed. Also decided to get a set of new wheels and tires. I really want to do the 70's pro street kinda theme, which is what attracted me to these cars in the first place. So looking at doing the police wheels with caps or American racing torque thrust d's with grey centers. With white letter BFG radials. Either a 255/60 in the rear or a 275/60, just have to sit down and measure it out. Thinking the 275/60 might be a bit big. I found a realitivly simple build for the Magnum here om the forum that I am going with, the guy recived pretty much the power range I want on a budget. I have been offered a new position at work, more money but the hours kinda suck. But it will ultimately help me with my goals, in the car and in life, I assume. Maybe some of you wiser gentleman and ladies could shed some light on that.

Sounds like a plan to me! My parents go to a lake around Leesburg and I attended the blueberry festival over in Plymouth with this car.

Got the carpet, haven't even took it out of the box yet. Also got the kick panels with speakers, they are very nicely done.

Also picked up a Bostitch tool box/kit to keep in the back of the duster.

And found a few books at the used book store. The two with the same picture are written by Carol Shelby, one is on engines and the other one is just about everything else. Pretty cool finds for cheap.

Block is going to the machine shop Monday, right now just having it hot tanked, new cam bearings, and freeze plugs. Keeping it cheaper.
Bought some parts to get it started, finding out I will need a few more things then original figured.

Engine block: $100

Distributor with advanced curve kit: $164.99
Pro Product Street Dampener: $99.99
Mopar Timing Chain Tensioner: $44.99

Total to date:$409.97

Just talked to the machinist working on my block. Said I have two holes that were egged shapes by .007. Said he could hone them out but now Im thinking about having it bored out.

What you all think?

So I missed what motor your building. Is it the original 318?
If so bore it and build it. Thats a nice car you have there. :burnout:

Indiana finally had some nice weather today, so I was able to get her out for a little cruise.

Just left the engine shop, parts and labor come to $1422.25. That includes hot tank, new cam bearings installed, new freeze plugs installed, bore block .30 over, turn crank .10 over, all new bearings, new gaskets, new oil pump, new timing gear, new pistons, hanging pistons, and assembly short block.

I'm a cheap bastard and that sounds like a bargain, even for me!

That's what I said! Told me they would work up numbers and I thought it was going to get pricey.

When you get to the headlights, you might want to check out Crackedback's wiring kit!! I highly recommend it. I think you would get a bigger improvement over just swapping headlights.

Thanks! I will have to check that out.

Purchased the camshaft tonight. It is a Lunatic Vodoo hydraulic roller, has long snout to run a mechanical fuel pump and the spec are:
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 264/270
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 213/219
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .485/.485
LSA/ICL: 112/106
Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 1200-5500
Part Number: 20200715

Add $288 to the pile.

What converter are you going to run?

More stuff ordered.
Oil filter stud $9.95
Oil filter plate $7.99
New timing cover $59.95
360 Pan with dipstick and pick up $107.95
Oil Pump shaft $56.99.

So add another $242.83 to the total.

Next order is heads, looking EQ heads trying to decide between the stock valve vs the 2.02.

Heads ordered, talked to Tim at Hughes and he recommended I stay with the 1.92 vavles. Also pick up a set of their valve cover.

Installed the speakers today. After 4 hours of cussing, cut fingers, and crying hahaha. Some people should not wire anything. But super happy with the fit and finish of them.

Heads came in today. These things are sweet! I can't believe the difference in the chambers. Kinda like the color of them to. Also got the valve cover. I think they are pretty sweet as well. So here's a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Picked up the block today, misunderstanding on all that was being done. I thought they told me they would assemble the lower end but they did not, told me it would be at least 8-10 weeks before they could get to assembly. So needless to say I took it home. It's been a few years since I put one together but I'm sure I can get it done. Sadly I don't think I will get to meet my deadline on May 14th.

Parts I still need!
Intake think Eddy RPM air gap
Water pump
Fuel pump
Bolt kit: ARP makes one that will have most everything I
need
Gaskets: got a few from the machine shop that I can use.
Oil pump bolts
Lifters
Rockers: not sure if I wanna use stock style or upgrade to rollers
Push rods
Thermostat
Spark plugs
Headers
Oils and assembly lube

Thinking that's about it, but I'm sure I will find some more stuff I need.
