Love Winter ?

Yep it does clog when it gets too wet. PAM helps a bit. I finished throwin' just as the freezing rain started so it wasn't an issue.

Lol, That sort of work can build up a sweat if ya' have enough jobs to get to.
Been there, done that, ............way back..............

The 8' or 7-1/2' blade would be a little difficult clearing the yard for the chihuahuas..........

Honestly, im not in it for the money
So, I do my driveway, the church parking lot and every once in a while I do the neighbors drive, if the snow gets too deep

As for the clogging snow throwers...here's my thoughts on that

on todays episode of "they dont make them like that anymore"...

Korea we had to hump the packs and crew serve weapons (.50, 81MM mortars and Dragons) and it was fine when we were moving but when we stopped, yikes! We finally stopped and set up and then finally got some sleep. Try sleeping in a skinny cotton bag (no high speed Army -20 bags for us!) with your cammies on and your cold M16 or worse, your SAW (M249 light machine gun) in the bag with you! And you better remember to put a canteen and MRE in there too or its gonna be frozen tomorrow morning. Yeah, winter rocks! But it is fun to play in as long as you can drive down the mountain at 5PM and hit a Mexican restaurant on the way home. Here is winter in So. Cal on my front lawn this morning.

I grew up in North Dakota and as a kid I didn't mind the winter, you just lived with it. Then when I was a bit older i went to Asia and spent the next 30+ years in and out of there, 9 of them living in Okinawa. All I can say now is F*&!K winter.... absolutely zero interest in living or even visiting anywhere with snow on the ground and temps anywhere near 0. Here in western WA it might get into the teens a few times at night but then its 30+ during the day, we might get snow twice and its gone in 2-3 days, that I can live with.

Oh yeah, the ROK SUCKS... big time in the winter. Been there done that, my memory of leaving the tailgate of a C130 at 1am with temps below zero knowing it was not going to get any better for quite awhile.

I survived living in Winnipeg for 50 years, where it could be -30 for weeks at a time. Best part of winter? When you have finally finished clearing the 8 inches of snow that fell during the day while you were at work, and get in the house to have a drink and some dinner, sit your *** down in the recliner just as the plow comes down the street or alley (depending on your neighborhood), and leaves a nice 2 foot high by 2 foot wide (or bigger) pile of icy hard packed snow in front of the driveway and sidewalk that you just finished clearing.

I had an old school Ariens snowblower that I bought used, 5 hp, 24 inch cut, took a little more time to clear the snow, but that thing did a great job, unfortunately, when I moved I was unable to bring it, and the pos I have now, while it has a bigger cut and 11 hp, is not nearly as good as the old Ariens.

I have been in Southern Alberta for 7 years now, wife said she saw a plow go down our street once, but the bucket was up. We do get some pretty big snowfalls here, but it often melts when a chinook comes through.

I do not have a snowmobile, never have, I don't ski, and I haven't skated for probably 15 years, so I guess it's safe to say I don't like winter. I have plenty of memories of getting stuck, freezing my ***, and fingers, and toes, etc. I don't need to experience it anymore.

More Hockey !
Played for 3 hrs yesterday then had a league game at 9:15 ... back on fhe pond ice from 3-5:30 today .
Will probably play for the next 3 days as well. Hopefully weather will stay cold .

I swear the plow waits for you to finish and go in then fill it in again. I usually go along the side of the road and clear the snow at the curb. This way the plow has less snow to pile up in my driveway.
I have a Craftsman snow blower with a 24" cut and 10 hp Briggs with big lugs on the tires. It'll walk through almost anything. Being a senior I could get the city to clean the windrows but not going to wait for them.
I haven't skated since my son was in grade 4 and he's 44 now so it's been a while. Wouldn't even attempt it now.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

You know it is hot enough in Tx when the sweat runs down your legs into ya boots!!!!

Used to do repipes in attics summer or winter , big cocacola themometer said 156 in the attic, we could watch the fiberglass insulation running down our arms , miserable as ---- .

The city will remove snow for seniors ! ???
I love Canada !
Yeah if you're 65 and older or have a disability they will clean the end of your driveway and clean your sidewalk in the front of your house for free if you register with them.

i used to plow my buddies driveway (the one i traded my bronco to) and he always said the city plow driver had it out for him and went through the extra trouble to plow him in

one day i was out there plowing, and i had made a few passes and backed into the drive when i saw him coming
so i sat back and watched
sure enough, about 2 feet before he reached the driveway, he veered to the right and he really did pile it in

not sure what the reason was, but he musta pissed him off somehow

I really don’t understand that way of thinking. The guy pissed you off so what happens every day. You spend all that time and energy stewing over it trying to figure out how to piss him off back to what end so you go huh huh really pissed him off eh. Act your age not your shoe size.

i wholly agree

about the only people that really annoy me enough to want to "get even" are the inlaws...and the wife declared them off limits

Actually I was friends with my father in law before I met my wife. Went hunting and fishing with him many times. You can understand my amazement when I was brought home to meet the parents.

no kidding, is there a bit of an age difference between you and the missus?

as far as my inlaws are concerned, my father in law died a few years ago, and we moved her mom in with us

one of the things that just flat out annoys me is the fact that i seem to care more about her then her own kids do

yesterday, i took the kids to the movies, had to leave at 2.00 sharp
her brother was supposed to be here by 1.45 to watch his own mom

i left the house at 2.05, and he didnt get there untill 2.15

that may not sound like a big deal, but thats a whole half hour, try showing up late for work

then they had taken off the bed linnen, but didnt bother washing it, so when i came back home, her mom was in bed, without any linnen on it

honestly, i feel like they cause more trouble then they are worth

5 years but I was friends with her cousin and got invited along for fishing trips and such so that’s how. Ya when dad passed me and sister talked about mom moving in with one of us but decided a personal care home was answer. The home almost within walking distance. So visits were daily. Mom has since passed too. Tuff road those adult decisions

Unfortunately we all have to go through it when parents get older and can't look after themselves. You do what you think is best is all you can do. Sorry for your loss Ahoey

Thanks but on a lighter note why do aboriginal Canadians hate snow? Because it’s white and covers their land

I love winter at my new home up in the hills of Yakima WA, all the rain of the West of the mountains get dumped at the pass & sometimes snows here, we (the wife & I)
Had a beautiful white Christmas & I couldn't have asked for anything else for this year.
I looked out of my bedroom window a few weeks ago & saw a meteor shower, all the stars & planets visible in the dark over here, in Seattle there's so much light pollution it's difficult to see anything. I love to look up at everything. Knowing the distances of our celestial neighbors & their sizes keeps me humble & right sized.

You're welcome to it.

Hey when I was a kid, I hardly ever seen snow over on the coastal side, let's just say there's still time to change my mind. It does get really cold here & really hot but I'm here to stay. Living under a bridge being a ****** addict 9.5 years ago really helped me appreciate things in life
