massive reconfiguration time again.

I've spent coin on this ride for years now and this summer I would just like to enjoy some of it. I really went to some good expense too good Highway Worthy. The cam the gears the tires the rims... The carburetors are nowhere in my wheelhouse. big expense wise for me at this point is hoping to get my front bucket seats upholstered this winter. Beyond that just having the money to drive it and maybe race it a few times.
Now with all that said if there was two Holley's for ten bucks each at a garage sale I'd snatch them up and give them a try. I never said I'm against Holley's I use what I have sometimes and I would have to tune the Holley's and have a crap ton of stuff for that...

I know you like what you know.

The cavemen liked two sticks to make fire. They knew how that worked. I prefer my lighter.

:lol::poke:

I wish you were down the street from me. I let you try my "new" custom 660s.
Just drive up there and race him. After the race, I'm sure he'd rather switch 'em than fight it... :D

Cope has far too much coin in to those Holley's to be giving them away, but I know you have a few you're not using..
I'll make you the promise when I get them running I'll send you my Edelbrocks

for you to hang on a tree and shoot to death...

I might have a pair of 1850 600 VS Holleys. They'd need a kit.

I have a ported 600 vac secondary and a ported 600 double pumper......that should make you all warm and fuzzy!
Just messing with ya:poke::D

wait till Christmas. "Deck the halls with bowels of Holleys".... LOL
I want my seats redone for Christmas.
Remember the car isn't really running terrible or anything like that it starts right up and gets with the program. It's just the plugs aren't reading the way I would like them to obviously. You can only imagine with my cranking compression and the fact that it's a stroker it's pretty hard to not have a monster on your hand at all times no matter if it's a little Out Of Tune or not..

Is this a dual plane manifold of a single plain?
how does your linkage work? does both primary open together or one at a time.
Not really up to speed on that part

I can see the backs of my intake valves through my butterflies! I think I can take the air filter off and get you a picture of the back of one of my intake valves...
That's my way of saying single planes lol and there's a big crossover underneath the carburetors to both sides as well for running Progressive carburetors. I just run them one to one now but I have run Progressive where I run the back carburetor for one-third of the throttle and then the front one comes in and catches up by Full Throttle. But now one to one so yes it's kind of running on its lower end of its primary I guess at Cruise I never even thinking about the secondaries likely?

Progressive is a bit of a tricky word when it comes to twin carbs.

Are we talking progressive primaries to secondarys, thats ok. (Even with non progressive linkage do the different carbs tip in the same?)
One carb progressive to the other is not ok in my opinion.

My new carbs are almost all eight all at once.
The carbs i run now tip the primaries just a bit before the secondarys.

I think you having unmatched carbs equals a tuning nightmare. Your a braver man than i running that set up on your engine.

But i did have quite a few twin carbs to pick from that just cost me rebuild kits and time.
The new 660s well,... they cost me an arm and a leg plus my left nut.

I'm into these carbs nothing and I have nothing to lose by tuning them. Again they're working fine I just need to get it right...

Really the only condition I changed on the car was driving for a long distance at a substantial rpm. And 2° less timing.

Okay it's a new day I just went down and got a replacement spark plug for number 3. So I'll gap that at 40. It'll be a good plug to compared to the others? Also I think I will start with the 7147 metering rods instead of the 7547 s that I believe are in there. I'll get up to temperature and probably bump it up a couple degrees of timing to 34. Then hopefully a freeway blast for a little while and back home for some more plug reading?

Back from testing. The butt dyno gave two thumbs up LOL especially on low-speed acceleration and high speed acceleration as well that stumble is now 100% gone. Idle seemed a bit smoother at 900. After the metering Rod change only without any other adjustment whatsoever the af gauge was reading pretty much one point lower than it had previously. And that seemed to be just about everywhere. So now at Cruise it was more like 13.2-13.4 at 2800 to 3000 RPMs.
Unfortunately the plugs when I first checked the number three that I put the brand new one in it had a pretty white tip on it which I didn't see coming by the way it performed.
Also again I would have thought I would have burned some of that black off the old plug I'm seriously thinking it's the driving condition. I did take it out on the freeway for a good twenty miles and had it up to speed most of the time except for when the state trooper slipped in behind me and I slipped out of his way and slip back in behind him. I had to hold it down to about 61mph or so and that was at about 2600 RPMs. Also these readings are with 10-15 minutes of City Driving getting back home doing moderate RPMs.
What I didn't do last time was pull some of the back plugs, but I did this time and I found that the four in the back are just about tan the way I want them and the front ones were the white ones and they got really white way up front. One and two seem to be the leanest plugs? My theory on that is at 70 miles an hour the air is punching into that air filter upfront? May be causing a little lean condition up front?
It didn't seem to start on the first crack of the key after it sat for a little bit this time. I had to give it a little gas to get it to Startup and idle, but if I hit it with the key a second time it'll slowly trickle on and start idling. I'm wondering now that I'm adding fuel if I shouldn't be going ahead and turning that timing back up a couple notches which I didn't do because I'm almost at the end of changing too many things at once...

The old in a new plugs and the broken porcelain number 3 sideways.

5 through 7...

I understand wanting a Big Gulp of air at wide open throttle, but at a steady freeway speed?
Honestly I'm thinking about blocking the front quarter of the front air filter? And see if those front plugs don't improve...

Ha ha, yesterday i went out cruzing in the dart. I had a cop pacing me on my right for quite a ways. Next thing i know i have ANOTHER cop in my rearview and now im thinking, oh boy. Here we go....im about to get ALL the tickets..
The cop behind my pulls to my left and now i have a cop on both sides of me just pacing me.... after a bit the one on the left p pulls behind the one on the right and they both turn into a parking lot. Not sure if the one called his buddy or what but you gotta love cops that are into fast cars!

:rofl::thumbsup::usflag:
