Clear back on page 43. LOL..... you are the hardest person to help on the site :D :D In fact, I gave up trying for about 3 years, then I thought I'd give it another try LOL. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: Skewers to Cudafever to NGK, that sent you back to the same suggestion given by your good ole' pal ole' buddy..... 318willwin! LOL :poke:
LOL...Actually, I passivley said it back on page 41 (post #1025), hoping jpar would take a hint...and I 100% agree with your statement below...its like you spoke what was going through my head, LOL!!

Yes I look back at page 41 and you did suggest these exact plugs. Now let's see how they will work? remember there was a lot of banter about my fuzzy dice at the time! LOL I do remember like I said when I got them that 318 and possibly others I couldn't remember recommended it as well. Because I called the manufacturer themselves and they said the same thing I don't want anybody didn't the idea that I'm not listening. It is just now where I've had time to look into these things.
now instead of all the other logistics of getting the car to this point now I have it to this point of fine-tuning and have a little time to do it. There's all the data I can give and if I can give anymore let me know...
I'd certainly like to twist on those air bleeds...

I pulled the three in the eighth plug and compared them to the relatively new plugs that I had just put in of the colder heat range...

Well, you might be tired of seeing pics of your car but I'm not. How about some pics of the car at the track?

I've always been told, if you are trying to tune the carb by reading plugs you have to pull them immediately after making a pass (i.e. Put in a new plug, make a full pass, shut off motor, coast up to the time slip booth, grab your ticket, pull to the side and pull the plug & read...otherwise you are going to get mixed readings with all the idle/part throttle stuff going back to the pits).

I hope that helps ya, happy tuning.

I'm trying I guess to tune the carbs with everything I have at my disposal. Plug readings, af gauge, feal, and time slips.
7 ngk is 1 step hotter than 8 and the 7s look much better. probably could go to 6s or put in more timing
I will be giving the timing some more advice and seeing what happens..

I'm not huge on showing a bunch of self boasting pictures LOL but there's a couple old ones that I like of the duster at the track.^^^ this one I'm sure my son is driving and it has slicks and Skinny's and the rear tires are all crumpled down...

LOL or this one where everybody voted I did actually put a feeler gauge space between the tire and the ground LOL...

What advice will you be giving it?

I would advise it to stay the course and fire steady.
Hopefully I'll be giving it the correct advice!!
I noticed 318hasvalvesthatwillfly was the first one to jump in and "agree"...
Just like a yesterday when everybody is why didn't you change those plugs when I said so a long time ago, well it's always something! LOL right now I would like to warm the car up and start tweaking the timing a little and also tweak on the air bleedes.
BUT, guess what... The battery isn't holding a charge.
Always priorities...
Here go's seven or eight sets of spark plugs worth the money for a new battery LOL

Go to wally world and buy one of the returns for about $40.00. You know the ones people buy then use it for a couple days then return it.

Do they really sell them like that? I would have never thought to ask. I used to shy away from their batteries, but have recently had a couple of the so called "good" parts store yellow tops go bad on me.

Some times they will have a rack of differant sizes. They put like a 30 or 90 day warrenty on them I think.

Picture of me in my brothers 440 4 speed Challenger back in 80 or 81. I had hair back then and big testicles.
11.50 dial in stock 440 with headers, alum intake 780 dual feed and 5.13s in a dana 60.
It ran 10.30s with the built 440.
2700 pounds wo driver. (170). Street driven to and from the track.

14 second pass..... no helmet proves it! :poke::poke:

1. Look at the passenger window.
2. Has license plates so did not need helmet at that time. The good ole days.
3. Look at the other drivers " Where'd he go" look on his face.
You should have bought it from him and never sold it......

We talked gap as well. He said they come at .032 and not to go more than .008 either way. I said MSD calls for .045-.050, but I've always gapped at .040. we agreed I should be safe there...
When i talked to NGK they also said that you have to use a wire gauge to set the gap or you will damage the precious metal tip.
Mine(the ones i'm buying) are factory set at 32 and i run 40.........i have one of those wires feeler gages somewhere......guess i need to find it or buy another one.

Oh crap! Wire feeler gauge? I put a 20 and a 16 together and jam them in there...
They didn't mention anything about gapping sensitivity. I just went ahead and went between my normal 40 and there are 32 and did a 36...

The higher the number the colder the plug(the more heat it can take and get ride off)Right.
So a 6 would not dissipate heat as fast.......

Are they a standard plug or an iridium. I spent the extra buck for the iridium plug and he made me aware of this.
I also when with the peanut plug(5/8)

Last longer i think, is the only advantage, but i thought i would give them a try.
