Modern seats in a 67 barracuda

-
I believe they were from a 2003 3 series convertible. I think anything around 2000-2006 would be similar. I am trying to remember, but I think I gave around $200 each, which is actually a really good deal, as they can get pretty pricey.

Just found this thread but of course it was after I picked up a set of seats from a Sebring convertible. Had no idea that there was a difference between the years and didn't take note of the year the car was that I took them from. So if I understand this correctly if I can move the seat belts then they are 2001 and up and I don't need electronics to make them work for my Barracuda. Is there any other way to tell what year and if they will work properly? Sure glad I saw this thread. Thanks to everyone for their input on this as its a real safety issue and I would have never realized there was an issue till after I had installed them.

If you can post a pic of one of them. I should be able to tell by the covers if they are pre 01 or not.

I found a pair of integrated bucket seats that are in a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Does anybody know how they work or has anybody ever used them in an A body?

Tincup used a set of Cadillac seats with the integrated belts in them. Look in his build thread. I would guess the electronics would be similar.

Sorry Toplscuda I didn't see your post on identifying the seats till just now. I went back to the salvage yard and got the year off the Sebring I took the seats out of. It was a 2006 model. The belts move without any power to the seats, and appear to lock up when a shake the seat. I assume then that no over electronics are needed to make the seat belts function properly. Is that correct??? Thanks for any help

They will work like the belts in older cars, relying on the cam tripping to lock the belts as you have found. Just make sure if you decide to wire up the seat to make use of the power functions you do not wire up the yellow wires. You don't want to trip the tensioners. They go boom

Thanks for all the info, I picked up a beautiful pair of tan (p)leather sebring bucket seats for my dart, I still need need to find a back seat cushion.

So which year Sebring seats would be best to fit in a 66 Dart with the least amount of modifications? And does anyone have any in Florida that I could put in there?

i picked my set at All Pro Auto Parts in Auburndale Florida. They sell seats on line and at the bigger swap meets like the Turkey Run. How ever the bucket seats they pull out they want top dollar. They have a u pick it yard as well, one of the cleanest yards I have ever been in. I think I paid 40 dollars for each seat that I pulled myself. Don't forget to take a battery pack (as they pull the batteries out of the cars when they go in the yard) with you so you can move the electric seat as there are bolts under both the front and rear of the seat tracks. Happy Seat Hunting

Do you think an A body factory console will fit between the sebring seats?

I'm hoping to bring another set home for my other convertible. (leather this time)
I do know the they (they 98 sebring convertible) seats will work with the 66 console (I could/should have moved the seats in about 1/2" each side for a tighter fit though) in a 66 dart.
if your is a later model car it will be a hair wider. I bought the front and the rear for my dart. I had to shave 1/2" foam off the top rear section to get a perfect fit since it pushed in the rear side panels for my convertible top that touched the top frame when raising or lowering the top. I paid 35.00 per front seat , 25.00 for the rear seat and 15.00 for the mounting metal for the rear re-tractor plus console module.
here is my mounting points, 1 1/4 " angle. the fronts are in the original bucket seat location and have the stock under car brace and bracket plates from the original bucket seats. the rear section is welded to the floor pan and through bolted to a 4"x6" 1/8" backer plate to stop pull through in case of an accident.

Thanks for taking the time provide all this info. I appreciate it a lot.

Saw this several years ago, the guy had black leather Volvo seats in his 2nd gen' fish. I say that because I don't recall, fastback notchback, 67,8,9. I didn't get to sit there but man they sure looked comfortable.
Car seats are like furniture in a home ( as in sofa too long for a wall ). We know modern car seats will likely have very short rails. Spacers cure that. Just measure the max width before going hunting. If a seat is too wide you can't get to the controls with the door closed and that sux.
One could spent a heck of a lot more money restoring some of the rotted OEM seats we see for sale here. I often wonder if the guy with Volvo seats knows he has saved enough money to have his OEM rear seat custom covered to match.
