Mopowers' 66 Dart Build

-
did you buy pre bent tubes ?? or do you have a bender?? looks great,,wish mine looked that good,,

I took some measurements and ordered a custom kit from Chris Alston Chassisworks in Sacramento. I ordered through them just because I live 20 minutes from their shop, so shipping wasn't an issue. The bends turned out right on the mark. I did have to tweak one of the bends a little just to tuck the A-pillar bar more towards the front of the car.

mopowers do you think they kept the deminsions you sent them for fututre A body mopar guys??? ide like the upper hooop and the front A pilar bars,,,and bars out to the front frame rails,, in my 66

I actually just looked through my folder of receipts and found the sheet with measurements. Your'e more than welcome to use them if you want. If you go to Chassisworks website, you'll see the blank measurement sheet I used. Just PM me if you'd like my numbers.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll have some completed roll cage pics this weekend for you. Right now, I'm debating on putting in a dash bar and rocker bars. What do you guys think?

Thought I'd post recent progress for those interested. I still have the pass side snout bar and both door bars to put in, but it's getting there.

It was a little hard cutting these holes, but oh well...

Here are some finished cage shots for those who are interested. I still need to finish weld every joint and add gussets, but at least the hard work is done.

Ahhh man! I love it. Sweet dude, sweet!

I thought I'd give a little update. I've been moving slow around here with winter and all.

I cut the flanges off the front frame rails and welded them up solid. It lives outside, so it's kind of dirty.

Floorpans are fully welded and ready for a coat of zero rust and carpet. I may have to tweak the tranny hump though, so maybe that will wait

Dana is mocked up ready for the new 35 spline 5/8" stud axles to arrive. From this:

Next on the list is fuel cell mounting and fuel system plumbing.

This is awesome! Great job with this. It is definitely inspirational to me to get mine started.

Are you going to sell the 8 3/4 that you had?

Thank You!

I actually sold it last year when I decided to go with the Dana, sorry.

Thanks for kind words everyone. Hopefully I will have some updated pictures of the fuel cell mounting this weekend. Little by little is the name of the game.

That car is looking good, I just got a 66 and might go the same way you are going, great job.

I finally got some sheetmetal in the trunk of this turd. Next thing I'm doing is making the front fenders and bumper removable as a unit for easy maintenance. Stay tuned...
