Most hated question about your car?

Rainy Day Auto them girls are the kind most of boys were looking for 10-however many years ago it was before we grew up lol. Good thread guys. I can relate to damn near every post lol

At the track the other day. Guy says that's a nice dart whats it got. I say 340. He says I had a 70 duster with a 318 2bbl that would smoke a 340. ran 11s stock. It had louvers on the back side windows to. That's the way they came stock. I just smile and shake my head.

What?!?! You didn't know the Dusters came that way?!?!

OMG!!!! You would have loved my '67 Duster with that factory crazy color that changed colors! Awesome stuff man! That and the very rare HEMI-Quasi moto dual over head cam with .900 lift mushroom roller cam. The fold down rear buckets were a gas! My brother had the convertable hard top version with the dual side super quad carb set up. You know that sideways carb deal right. I think Webber copied the design myself but no one is actually sure. I'm thinking it was an off shoot of an Italian design some Greek came up with. (AKA, the guy who did the 100mpg carb;) !)

Anyway, Dad was telling me, one day while he was flying inverted in the attack chopper smokin his Cuban (Think M.A.S.H. & black ops market underground dealers) he said he had seen a German man driving in Soul with an old Italian car with that set up.

I get---what`s taking so long ?

I got that 3 times last week with the wife's ride. I spime ask, have you ever assembled an engine from scratch? Nevermind that the car is a total resto mod car... Blank looks occur with the desk ding "No." For an answer. I simplely smile and say, Try it one day, try it. Let me know how it goes. Then you'll understand why.

Girls are always asking, "have you had sex in that car?".. That's not even about the car. I just look at them weird and they usually go away... It's like they're not even interested in the car... Silly girls..

So may answers to that question

OMG this is really something girls ask you guys ...I thought Ben drinkin @Ben Drinkin was just joking .....I cant imagine what kind of girls would ask something like that ....OMG

That even embarrasses me and I am not even the one who asked that sheeeeesh

Even worse in an early Barracuda with the big rear window.

I never complained about lots of glass. The ladies on the other hand were not so keen on showing the world.

Just today, walking over to the duster, this guy calls me
Hey, that's a 73 right?
71
Thats right, now I see it, a 71 Chevy Nova
No, a plymouth duster
Oh, so it's a Dodge?
...yeah, exactly

What year is your Nova?
Me "it's a Dodge Dart"
Them, oh cool, you got a 350 in that?

Shakes head and drives away....

I had a buddy who lived with me for years and HE would still call me and say things like, "hay heads up, the Nova is leaking"
Or when I'm out of town for a while I would ask him to fire it up and warm her up, Him, Where's the keys.for the Nova.
Me, hanging on the board, there the ones with the DODGE key chain....

He is NOT a car guy...

;)

My two favorites on my 69 Barracuda Fastback are:
1. What year Camaro is that? I normally just point to either the PLYMOUTH or BARRACUDA emblem.
2. My dad, uncle, grandpa, etc used to have one of these, but his had a hemi in it. I used to just smile and nod, but now I say, No it didn't. They did not come with Hemis. The only way he had one with a hemi is if it was a Race Car.

I was talkin to this guy at a flea market. He had an old maverick. I told him I was working on a 75 Duster. So he says " your gonna have 20 thousand into that before your done" I said maybe and walked away. It didnt bother me at first but later I got to thinkin. What was the guy's point. Does he know how much Im gonna spend, NO. Was he infering that a 75 Duster is not worth spending money on, probably. The point is who cares! To a car guy, putting 20 grand into something is not the point, it's the experience that matters. Besides, 20 grand spread over 4 or 5 years really is not that much an on top of that, I will have way less than 20 grand put in this car. I really dont understand how people think they know everything and assume you are a moron for wanting to fix up an old car. And by the way, my son was standing right besides me who is very excited about the Duster. He is 16. That one comment really bothered me though.

A Maverick? You could not give me one of those, especially if I had to drive it. It does not matter what you have in your car, unless you are fixing it up to sell. I could not tell you how much is in my 66, but you could't buy it either.

Most classic cars will not be worth the price paid to restore them. It is a select few cars models that will. I for one as most here I believe so not restore my (or any) car for resale value or profit. If I did, it wouldn't be an A body Mopar. It would be a certain select B bodies or most any E body if it could be procured in good shape for a cheap price. Since money I don't exactly have, I just get the best up dented rusty things and enjoy them my way.
Butt ugly and fast as stink.

I had almost gotten over the worst question I have ever been asked. When I drove to Michigan to pick my car up from Mark, my wife asked me why I wanted to buy the ugliest car ever made.

Ooooo the one liners that come to mind for that one.
But I would like to sleep in my bed again.

Yep, love my wife, but after 30 years I have learned she could care less classic cars. And yes, I do like to sleep in bed and not in the garage

Ran into a guy i know at a get together he is 32 and his dad still builds his motors. Not a bad thing but they are stock small block shivys with an "RV" cam 4 bbl and headers. Acts like each one is setting the world on fire.

Anyways he asks if I have ran my car yet. I say not yet at the track. Had it out in front of the house and layed 100-150' of rubber launching in 2nd gear and kept spinning through 3rd on 28×10 do6 hoosiers.

Huh you either need stickier tires or there is something wrong with your car he says.

I said do you realize what around 500 horse, 4.88 gears, a converter that stalls around 5100 and slicks are like on an old county back road.....Quiet blank stare followed by you'll figure it out. I walk away saying WTF.

He's just showing his ignorance with out realizing it .

I get,why dont you put a V8 in it instead of that Slant six?I tell them I like running 11s with the six.

I think I'll start mentioning to every Nova driver I see that my Uncle( or some relative) had a Plymouth Duster just like his!

If they don't know what it is - " Nice GT you've got there" - at least they can read what's on the hood'
Why don't you put a 340 in it, if they do know what it is

There were no "Cudas" pre 1970
please show some respect and address my 1968 /with its with its full name.

A cuda is an E body. as in... Easy to find, Easy to own, Easily fits in to the crowd or Easy to skip over.
