My 360 build

Ha! I always used to say to the apprentices " strong in the arm, weak in the brain" The amount of ten mil bolts that they break are amazing. The length of a spanner is exactly 16 times the size of the nut for a reason so you should have a inbuilt torque wrench in your arm for the torque values of any size bolt.

Hell yeah let’s get that thing fired off.
Agree! I was hoping to get it done today but ran out of time Im almost ready tho. I have to put my transmission dipstick in fill it with atf, prime the fuel system (i put 10 gals in it today) and put the distributor and plug wires on. I primed the oil system today but I will do it again right before I start it.

I got the fenders and "beak" on today im having a horrible time lining them up. Iv never been good at that lol

From what iv read they flow similar to the 340 ones. I know headers will out flow them but im willing to give up 10-15 hp for a better looking user friendly package. I dont want to scrape every speed bump and have the headaches of changing plugs and melted wires. I know alot will disagree with me.
Couldn’t have said it better myself

Im a little late on this thread i forgot to update this one. But she is running. I still got some bugs to work out. Im having some electrical gremlins and the original 40+ year old starter just ain't gonna cut it. It cranks but she is slow on cold days. I guess the 10.5:1 compression is a little much for a factory starter lol. Im gonna order one of the mini starters im looking at one of the high torque proform 440-415 starters they are less than 200 bucks here is a video of it running.

Awesome! I just saw the mouse at 0:57!

@dartfreak75 dont buy one of those. Too much money. If you can, go to your local picknpull, junk yard and get a starter out of an 80’s-90’s Dakota, Ram or Ram Van. They can have a v6 or v8, doesn’t matter. They all had the mini starters.
If they weren’t replaced in their lifetime, it’ll be a genuine nippondenso starter. I got one for 40 bucks last week at the pick n pull.

Yep....if no junkyards around, go to Autozone and buy a starter that would be for your the truck you describe as the old rusty one. Anything with a 5.2, 5.9, or 3.9 in it....the starter will bolt right up in your car. Anything 3.7, 4.7, 5.7 won't fit. Stick your old one back in the box for core return. Dude at my Autozone told me to do that....they don't care. Car sounds good!

Post up a video with it idling about 750. It's idling high in that last one. I wanna hear the cam. lol

Just my two cents, grab one from a Magnum truck. Way cheaper and it'll crank it no problem.

That was the original plan. Unfortunately we don't have a pick n pull nearby. I was gonna pull the off my magnum in the white truck but the wiring is different I read you gotta buy a conversion or something for them. I have seen some of the older magnums with the 2 stud wiring. I will look for one of those.

Ok I will. Was tuning on the carb and playing with the timing yesterday I took some timing out of it because the starter was giving me fits i thought it was kicking back but now I think the starter is just junk lol. I had it idling about 800 and it sounds good. I will take some video if I can get it to start in the morning the starter is being a pita.

I thought I remember hearing some cam bump in one of your videos. Double and triple check all your connections and grounds. Don't wanna spend that money unless you have to. .....at least I sure wouldn't. LOL

I'll try to put you a pic of one of my spare starters on here tomorrow. It's snowing like a S.O.B here right now....and I don't want to walk to the garage! LOL

Just take the connector extensions off and it'll work like a champ.
