Well at my work my fellow employees have some nice cars and were all gonna race the cars im up against are: 96 Chevy Camaro Z28:CAI,Superchips,Exhaust, 96 Mustang:stock with 3.73's and a 02 C5 Corvette with MSD wires, and exhaust

I know i can take the Mustang and the Camaro and im almost sure i can get the vette on the fact that it shares the same motor as the 02 Camaro (LS1)and its automatic and basically stock but just for the hell of it figured i would ask if i should worry

P.S. I G-Teched the car while i didnt have a posi system and it ran 13.22@112

I am on my first cup of coffee and looked at the list you have to race
against. the two chebbies are led sleds but the furd is light.
If you don't spend your time spinning at the light you will beet them all.

They make it real hard to find a bottle these days!
Be cool and make them drool .

like memike said, put some sticky rubber on or ease it out the hole cause you should have them covered but the vette probably has traction control so he,ll beat you out of the hole if you dont hook

i wouldnt worry about the chevys but i no for a fact stangs are fast! i have a 91 5.0 thats built and theirs not alot arond here street wise that will hang with it.

I would worry about getting some real passes under your belt. G-Tech numbers are a nice fantasy, but racing on the track and getting a timeslip in your hand is the only way to truly know what your car - and you - can do.

A trap speed of 112 with a decent short time - and no mistakes - should have you in the 12's.

FWIW, a friend of mine has a C5 Vette with a handful of typical bolt-on mods. It runs high 12's all night long in the 1/4 on street tires. And his LS1 Camaro (with bolt-ons) prior to the Vette was also a consistent high 12 car.

These new sport cars can take off fast, thats how they ET. great but I bet if you were cursing side by side on the freeway @ around 70 mph, you pull right away.

Hold on, your carb stinks for racing, vacuum secondary's are nice to drive but a DP would be much better for going fast. You need a different carb for racing, a Holley DP for sure and the linkage should be switch to 1 to 1, so both primary and secondary opens together. Some 3.91 or 4.10 would help too. If you lose, its because of your gears and carb.

The vette will be in the 12s and I would check your V-Tec I run a 13.2 @ 105 and thats through the manifolds and on E-70-14 Stock Redline Tires.

I was a Corvette guy for almost 25 years, and have driven a lot of C4 C5 and even a few C6 Vettes. The new Vettes will EAT an old L71/L68/L36/L89/L88/ZL1 Vette alive.
I LOVE Mopars, and have been a Dodge truck owner since 1986, but that Vette will blow your doors off. I dunno about the Mustang or the Camaro, but watch out when it comes to the Corvette.
Sad to say. I am not trying to be a smart ***, but you asked for my opinion.

George

my car ran an 11.9 at 112 mph last spring so your gtech is a little off.but anyways.best of luck.but i work for a gm dealer ship.if i were a betting man which i am not i would have to go for the corvette.it is really quick.my friend has a cobra mustang.with a set of 3.91 gears it turned a 13.2 at the track.so u should have a decent race.alittle slow out of the hole.but pulled strong in the other end.best of luck.can't wait to hear the results.

my opinion go to your local track, dont tell them, and get some passes. then when u race them make sure its at the track safety first and you'll hook first. IMO the vette will be the one to worry about the stang it depends on the driver, cause the one night we took my car up to maple grove, and there were like 02 stangs with the typical bolt ons running 15's its all driver and knowing your car. i wish you the best of luck. beat those brand xers

chris

ps not to scare you at all but here a pick of my car, a pick of it at Maple Grove, and a picture of what happened on the cars second pass. The breakage is do to a stick car and stock driveshaft lets just say i dont take shortcuts anymore

The C5 Vette is lucky to be a mid to low 13 car and if you tune your combo right he wont eat you alive at all. Your car has 12 second ability if you tune it right but get it to the track and get some real track #'s. At 112 I can run 11's so that G-tech is a waste of time in my book. Good luck , Ron

I would think your car would respond nicely to a 2800-3200 stall converter. As far as performance goes your car seems just about right for high 12's to low 13's. If the vette is an automatic then I would not worry as much, the mustang should really not present a challenge in stock trim. The Camaro is the one I would worry about. Seen those things rip into mid 12's with bolt on mods.

go to the track and don't tell, a 3.91 or 4.10 would work great along with maybe a 750 double pumper and slicks, convertor may not be big enough for a 750 though so get a 650 double pump. if the first secret race session doesn't pan out so good, get a nos kit of somekind and hide it good and don't tell! nothing worse than having to listen to chevy and ford guys rub in they out run you, trust me a race with everyone at work they will pull out every advantage they can to, maybe a little squeeze of ther own. good luck and make us proud . mopars for life:notworth:

I think you should be careful! anyone of them could outrun you. They may have a litltle secret weapon called NOS of there own. You better watch some of those LS1 camaros and vettes thay are pretty damn fast! and some of the little mustangs can hang with the best of them. I say you need some practice and don't count your chickens before the eggs hatch. These guys just may be hiding some GO FAST GOODIES that you have not detected! Sounds like you have a nice little Dart. But you should go to the track and see exactly what it will do!You may be surprised! A lot of times I have known people that have built up rides and they run pretty damn good.so they think it will do XXXX time through the quarter mile. Then they take them to the track and are very surprised that they are not as fast as they thought. So go to the track and see what the Dart will do then let us all know. GOOD LUCK and be CAREFUL!

Their teling you WHAT their engines are, NOT how BIG they are![-X and I suspect they're hiding some NOS somewhere. You're not paid to fight fair---only win! That's why I'd do some testing on my own, maybe add some gearing & at least go to racing carb of some type. IMO, 4.10s, a worked 650DP & if you can swing it a converter would help insure a win. Of course if you're REAL nervous about it, nobody said you can't spray the motor. I've seen plenty of "stock" Mustangs run deep in the 12s & the LS motors have plenty of potential, so GOD knows what they REALLY have done to them.

One thing i think you guys are forgetting is....They are racing for fun! Not for pinks! Just race, have a good time. If they blow you away, which i dont think they will, then worry about mods or upgrades. Most guys, especially chevy and stang guys, think there cars are faster then they are, and really have no clue on how to drive them. JMO

I just re read your post about what your up against. I think you should worry about the Vette if any. Reason, They are light and have good acceleration. They are fast,Fuel injection, computer, is it a 6 speed? Any way good luck and have fun

Just go blow their doors off and show them that once again MOPAR is the choice of winners. Other than that you're racing against new factory built BS, so just go out and have fun. The new factor stuf is so tuned that if you get beat its becauuse of that. From what I read from your combo and what I read about them haveing, I don't think you have much to worry about. If the C5 is basically stock and an automatic then it should not be much of a challenge. Depending on driver error they run high 12s and low 13s. The mustang I don't see being much of a problem unless it is a GT. Yeah everyone thinks the Cobra is the one to worry about and I don't know where it started but I know some of the more recent Cobras are independent rears instead of solid axles which is more of a track setup, not a strip set up. F-body camaros like the one you mention are just junk unless a lot of work and money has been dumped into them so I don't see any worries there either.

MOPAR OR NO CAR!!

if your racing for fun and braggin rights, go have fun!

the race is not always won at the finish line or by the
most powerful engine.

even if they beat you ,and thats a BIG IF,look on the bright side, they still have to go home with a chevy and a ford.

Well MR SUBLIMESWINGER! I disagree with you about driving abilities! I happen to own a Chevy with my Mopars and If you were near me I would show you what the *** END of a 67 Chevelle SS looked like while I my 57 year old *** is playing a tune on a Richmond 6 speed trans and BLOWING YOUR DOORS OFF! You would be wondering why that Swinger just couldn't get past that Blue Chevelle and how that Chevy Driver was able to drive like that especially being an OLD MAN!! The brand of car a person drives has nothing to do with ones driving abilities! So I think your theory is WRONG!

Well, apparently from the way you handled your response you have a few problems yourself. Note that he said most guys, not all of them. And he was referring to guys who drive late-model near-stock Camaros and Mustangs and don't really know much about cars or how to drive them. :crybaby: CHILL OUT!!!
