I am a newbie on the mopar scene and I’m new to using a forum. But I have purchased a 73 Plymouth duster and I’m currently doing a engine swap from my 225 slant six to my new 318 I’m running a 904 automatic Transmission and I cannot for the life of me find a lockdown linkage and cable if anyone has any links or any advice I would be very grateful.

Welcome aboard!

Are you talking about a kickdown linkage? You can check the for sale forum or place a ad wanting to buy.

Welcome aboard! Instead of the mechanical rod(s) for the kickdown, Lokar and Bouchillon (sp) make a cable setup for the kickdown based on early Dakota cable setups

Welcome aboard.

Regardless of what you use, you have to be sure the levers at both ends are the correct ratios.

There are trans levers that are for 4bbl carb and others for 2bbl.

Somewhere on this site is a post that shows (iirc) 4 different trans levers side by side.

JUST NUMBERS FOR EXAMPLE

Let's say the throttle shaft rotates 89 deg from closed to full open and has a 2" lever.

And the transmission has 75 deg full off to full on and a 1.5" lever.

Will the trans shaft be full on at the same time the the throttle is full open?

I assumed the aftermarket cables have worked this out if they are specked for the correct transmission and carb combo.

I prefer the normal rod type kick down to the cable myself...
