Been checking out the new Challenger concept car. Man I hope they make that one the way it sits....I would make that my next new car purchase. Love the pistol grip shifter mated to the six speed. Also the lines of the car are beautiful. And the 6.1 hemi!!

Yes, I really love the car. I hope that Chrysler gets absolutely flooded with email, about the car. I know someone that emailed Chrysler saying that he had $10,000 for a down payment/deposit that he was willing to pay. Then he went and talked to a Chrysler dealership head of sales put $5,000 in cash on his desk. Both through email and at dealership said that he would not be able to put a deposit on the car, but he did it in hopes that he won't be the only one and that public acceptance of the car would get the big wigs to give the green light on the car.

V-6 version :wack: .................never!!!!! Just think of all the cars we wish we could of bought new years ago. Can you imagine going into your local dealership back in 1970 and saying "no I don't want a hemi cuda convertable. Do you have anything with a 318?". I'm ready to buy one. Let the muscle car wars begin again!!!!!!!

A couple things that they need to do to finish it off. The pistol grip handle needs to be angled forward slightly, like the old one, also it needs a 3 inch chin spoiler under the front valance and a 3 inch deck spoiler (not wing) on the rear. Kind of like the 70 TA 340 6pack challenger.
Regardless, I'll be buying on.

Why would you want to pay $50k to 100k for a 1970 model. This car would kick its butt, start every time, less money, & get decent fuel milage! Put me down for one!

If you get a chance look at thesite called "creating the lie" and check out the versions of a new "cuda". Now this is a real sweetheart and if they built one of these I would surely buy one;or the challenger if the CUDA is a no go.

im startin' to save RIGHT NOW for one of them puppies!!! a black one.

ok, at first i really dug the new challey, but after reading the desingers comments i started shying away from it. he talks as if the "tucked under wheels and long overhang" was something that was wrong with the old challenger. the only thing wrong with the old challey was it was a little heavier then the camero and mustang for Trans Am racing. he goes on to say "we fixed this" meaning the tucked under wheels and long over hangs. what needed to be fixed is the challeys weight. this new challeys heavier, taller, and wider then the old challenger. worse off, hot rod magazine estimates a v6 car to be around 24k, which means a 5.7 hemi will be close to 30k. the 5.7 in the new challenger will only get 14s in the 1/4, itll need the 6.1 to get it into the 13s (to run with the rustang) and you can bet the 6.1 will be more like 35k. way to much money so you can run with a 25k mustang. and to run with the gt500 rustang, youd need a 6.4 hemi which im sure would be close to 40k. this new challenger needs a diet big time. it does look nice, but for 25k the rustang is the best bang for the buck. now, if they can get the 5.7 into a 26-27k challenger, thatd be tons better, even though the rustang would beat you in the 1/4. then for 32k the 6.1 hemi. but i dont think thats gonna happen. yes getting the new challenger would be cheaper than getting an orginal 70s model, but shes gonna need a diet to run with the new rustang, which is a shame. again, the new challenger looks good, but i can see the motor trend run down now "mustang, best bang for the buck". i just hope they can make this car smaller.

Chocolate vs Vanilla vs Strawberry.... :drinkers: (or more appropriately, I guess, "Bullit" vs "Vanishing Point" 8-) )

I think the new Mustang looks great, very nice updating of the original car. I have no interest in owning one, it does nothing for me.

I still drool every time I look at the new Challenger and plan on plunking my money down as soon as the dealership will take it (6.1, 6 speed :thumblef: )

My street racing days are long past (although I somehow think the rear tires on my new Challenger might have a tendancy to wear faster than the fronts...must be a weight bias issue :yawinkle: ), so who's 'faster' is a moot point. Enough Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaros, etc. saw the 'rubber baby buggy bumpers' on the back of my '74 Challenger to satisfy my ego...

Cruising down the street, the new Challenger (IMO anyway) is every bit the equal (or better!) of the new Mustang...

You can bet that there will be a few good matches at the drags between the Mustang and Challenger. I really think Ford started a cool thing bringing out the 2005 Mustang and (it being a good thing)....as we know, Chrysler will do there best to out perform. Yes, I would love one "Hemi" all the way. In Canada "more the likely" close to 50K if not more. If I could find the cash for one, I'm sure not going to worry about the gas or complain about it. (just maybe the polish)
Let face it 60s-70s muscle cars were it and their coming back:salut:

I love the Challenger. I also liked the 'Cuda pics, but would prefer a '70 inspired front end instead of the one it has, which looks to be more like a '71. I could probably even afford to buy one. Would love having the Hemi & manual trans.

Having said all of that, we have 4 kids, :violent1: :argue: (2 sets of twins, all in grade school). We have a mini van, :banghead: which we would love to get rid of, but is the most practical thing for us for the next few years. Alas, I'm probably going to miss the factory musclecar wars again! :violent2:

I hope they build that new Challenger very close to the one in the photos. And I also hope it blows the doors off the new Mustang (which also has a great look).
The bad thing about all of this is that after a couple of years everyone will be driving one and they won't be quite as exciting. A few years back I couldn't
talk my wife into me getting an older Dart but she would go for A PT Cruiser.
(she didn't want an old junker around) Everytime I saw a new Cruiser I had to have one. But after a year of owning one, everyone was driving them and mine was just like the rest. I did get the Dart and I couldn't be happier. Its the only one in town and allthough it's an ugly work in progress I do get questions asked and looks and an occoasional thumb's up. To me that's what it's all about!

right on. when i first saw the challenger concept i thought about putting the 64 aside and start saving for it, but after three weeks of me walking around with 2008 challenger wood i got soft and ran back to the 64. she took me back with open arms (thank God). i like the new challenger, but if it does come out everyone willl have one. but i like the idea of getting the thumbs up from the older mopar car owners. itd be kinda like saying "awsome little dart, nice to see her on the road". i got thumbs up when i had my 67 coronet, it made me feel good. ive been told by friends that my 67 coronet had the best ball cooler (outside vents) of any car. you pulled a lever and both ports opened up. then.....ahhhhhhhhhhh. felt good on a hot summer night.

Dodge nut, My buddy in high school, 90's (his second car) was a 68 Roadrunner
We nicknamed the fresh air vents "FART ELIMINATORS". Funny I didn't think we were the first to think of it

Back in 1970 when I was a sophmore in high school, I enjoyed my first car, a 65' Dart . A 270 2dr. post with a HP 273 and a three on the tree. I used to hide beer in the "trap door vents" Toolmanmike

I have not seen the cuda consept yet. Were can I see it at? please.and as for the new callenger.it sure grabed my eye.Woild take on with out motor, trans or int,Then inplant. Then go rustang hunting

fart eliminators...funny/ i guess those ol vents have more than one job. the outside air vents and the vent windows on the doors (the little ones you open and wind hits them and then you) really ventilate the old cars far better then the new cars. its these kinda things that make me love the old cars so much. "may our cars out live us".

Anyone seen the new Camaro concept? GM should just shoot itself. This coming from an old chevy guy. I would buy a new Challenger. If I was given a New Camaro as it looks now in concept form, I would sell it and buy a new Challenger. In all fairness the New Camaro does fit well into GMs design philosophy of building ugly cars that fail at the showroom. GM should stop and think about the GTO and SSR.

Here is the concept CUda, don't remember where it came from know.
